How should I respond to people who are very nice but really weird?

Had this happen this evening. Ran into a really weird yet very friendly younger man. The way he was acting had me wondering if he was gay (I'm not). He wasn't creepy about it at least. He was socially awkward, but he wanted to keep on talking to me and I'm a complete stranger. He brought up lots of random issues about his family within 5 mins of talking to him (his Grandfather recently passed away and he's taking care of his Grandma).

I'm usually friendly with strangers. Man, woman, young, old I try to put my best foot forward. But I can usually sense when someone doesn't want to over-engage. Especially if it's another man who might think being too nice might come off as something else.

Anyway, I'll personally take weird & friendly vs. "normal" and hostile.

there's something going on with their brains, likely related to being left handed too. i had this thing going on with me that is best summarized as being stupid, even though it's more nuanced than that. and it does correlate with paranormal experiences (synchronicities, precognition, etc, all skyrocket in frequency).

I will be almost like a gay person who quit being gay sharing his perspective. but I'm sharing the perspective of acting stupid: it's like you thinkify your feelings. use feelings to start thinking. which sometimes helps solve problems that rationality cannot solve but you also lose a thought-priority, for example, (will use an example that never happened, but illustrates well) when you hear "screw you" as a right-brained person, you often would think of actual screws. you know what the phrase means but nonetheless the idea of screwdriving still is the first idea that comes to mind.

You'd think it's a variant of ole 'tism but it seriously fluctuates depending on what hand i use, and see this:

Overdoing the left hand use makes everything seem like a metaphor. and metaphorizing common metaphors to undo the metaphor in them (screwdriving when hearing screw you... even though this specific example never happened.)

I have seen this with work colleagues who want to share every detail of their medical procedures. 🤷‍♂️

I always let weirdos know they’re bothering me. I don't care how nice they are. Those people don't have the capacity to understand that your kindness is just basic decency. Once you're nice to them, they think you're their new best friend and that you're willing to listen to their bs. Being direct is the best way. Politeness is a beautiful thing but only when you're dealing with people who actually get it.
