Why does this guy keep looking at me but then avoid eye contact?

There’s this guy I used to see at the gym all the time, I noticed he’d glance at me a lot and I’d also glance at him because he’s very attractive. One day he stopped showing up I guess because I haven’t seen him there in over a month.

Anyway, the other day he showed up at my job ( I work at a grocery store) with his friend and I first see him glancing at me and I tilt my head because I realized I recognized him and then we just keep glancing at each other from like 15 ft away. So then AS SOON as he has to walk past me to leave, he buries his head in his phone.. at this point we’re like 2 ft away and I say “ have a good day “ to both of them and his friend responds but he completely ignores me..

Why does it feel like he’s avoiding me for some reason? lol I assume people don’t do that for no reason and we’ve never spoken before. What do you guys think?

He likes you, but he is very shy. He could be inexperienced with women. I exhibited such behavior with one fine lass. I was somewhat able to flirt from distance, but I would internally panic anytime she was within speaking distance.

He's shy. Drop small hints, when I was younger a girl could scream into my ear she's into me but I would have missed it lol. Some guys are also just super nervous around a girl they like
