It could be. It depends on what those rules were. A lot of women will do the same. A lot of women want a man to pay for dates, pick her up, open the door for her and so on. If he doesn’t align w what she’s looking for she’s not going to date him again. Some women have ghosted men like that. So yes I’d like to hear what those rules were. You have not given any context of what he said to determine whether it’s controlling or a reasonable request. He disappeared because he felt you two didn’t agree on something that was important to him. I guess he figured why waste each others time.

Rules such as what? Don't scream at the waiter or call him by title X? Some rules are very sensible.

As for the disappearing that is regardless a better option than insisting.

I have gone out with a few people where I had to insist on a bit of common respect for other people as an ultimatum. Those ones never work out.
