What does it mean when a guy sizes you up?

Uh, well, it kinda needs to be in context. You size up things to see if they're considerable for whatever you want to do, like, you size up a ship to check its suitable for a long journey, or you size up a fighter to place your bets for the fight, or something. When applied to a girl, it's usually euphemic, like, they're considering you sexually, as in, they wanna LECH that sh*t. But it depends on the context, I mean, the fact that you're asking why someone would do that... It sounds like someone has TOLD you this? In which case, I seriously doubt that's what it means, but I can't tell what it does mean.

Well this guy mentions that a girl likes him (doesn't say her name) and when I ask him if he likes her, he tells me that she's too young for him. He later asks if I'm jealous. It just surprised me because I am most definitely NOT jealous. I've only known this guy for a couple of days. Sure I think he's cute and such, but I am most definitely not jealous at all. When I told my friend this, she said that he was "sizing me up". Thoughts?

Ahhh. For dating or something, I think she meant. As in, he's testing wether you're the jealous type, I wouldn't be inclined to agree with her from the sounds of it, though, if she means what I think she means.

When he asked you if you were jealous, it was a negative compliment to see how you would react to it. He wants to know if your interested. The way you react,would give him a read on how you possibly feel about him mental/physical chemistry. It's a very classic move in Flirting for guys. For some guys flirting like this is easy as talking if your very witty, but most can't do it. Sizing up is mOre a male to male term to see if your better than the competition, to see if your the alpha male.

It means that the guy is trying to get a read on you and see what type of a person you are. Is she nice or mean? Do I find her attractive? Would she be good in bed? Is she single? Would she say yes to a date?

Well, I think the term you're looking for is 'check out' not size up. Guys generally 'size up' other guys who are possible 'threats' and will ' check out' girls to judge their attractiveness - usually consists of a scope from head to toe then back again.

When you're sizing somebody up it means you're looking them over and questioning how well they'd be in a fight against you.
