What does it mean if a guy goes out of his way to say hi?

There is a guy I have a crush on and have run into him off and on for a while. I say him today and he kept honking to get my attention to say hi. We met in college (casual) through mutual friends...I've run into him from time to time around town_the last time I saw him his friend said my hair looked nice and he defended me by saying "not just my hair, but all of me is beautiful", I can't help feeling super special around him. But we are friends on fb and he's never asked me out.. does he like me?

He could do, maybe he's unsure how you feel about him. If I were you, I would confront him directly and ask him if he likes you. If a girl I had a crush I did that, I would say yes. He still may be scared and lie about it. If he is lieing though, you will be able to tell by his body language, he'll avoid eye contact. But you can do it by Facebook, text or in person, your choice :)

THank you for your response! The problem with confronting him is that he is older, like in his thirties... so I feel like by now he should be "man" enough to come thru... right ?(plus I a big chicken too). I also can't tell is he is just super friendly or into me.. he's really nice to everyone and very politically active, like a social activist. But, there is this protective feeling I get around him, and like I told my sis.. one honk would have been okay.. but three honks just to wave?/
