Why does my guy friend constantly point out hot girls to me?

Just wondering if anyone can explain why a guy would comment on every hot girl that walks past to his female friend.

He never used to do this, but now whenever any girl who is slightly attractive walks past or is on TV or something, he has to say their hot (but it never sounds very natural or convincing about it) And yes, the girls he points out *are* hot, but I don't get why he seems to say this so much more when I'm around.

I love how the guys are all basically saying 'he sees you as a close platonic friend' and the girls are thinking he must like me :P


Forget to add, he got really drunk at a party (reallly drunk) and tried to kiss me (and because primarily he was very very drunk I turned away) so I'm thinking it's his way of reassuring me we are just friends etc. Sound plausible?

There are two explanations that I see.

First of all, it could be that he is just a comfortable with you as he is with his guy friends, so in the aspect of that sort of thing, he talks to you like you were one of them.

Secondly though, If it doesn't sound convincing and if it is a sudden change, maybe his feelings changed for you and now he's trying to make you jealous. I've known guys that did this, but it just didn't work because I'm not the jealous type like that. They want to see if you get jealous, because if you do, it indicates that you feel the same way for them. It's their way of "testing the waters" without having the potential of really getting hurt I suppose.

However, if you wanna know, just ask him. If he's just your friend and is comfortable with you, he'll say that, and if he is getting feelings for you, he'll either tell you, or you'll be able to tell by how he acts/answers.

I'd probably be leaning towards the "like a guy friend" idea, ha ha I think I've just got to the point where I'm like a guy in a skirt to him. So long as he doesn't expect me to keep up to date with the football, I'm happy for him to treat me like one of the guys :)

He's your friend but saw you as a girl he shouldn't offend but can now relax around you and act like & say things he would around his male friends.

Egh how do you know what he says when you're not around.

If this is true seems you never had a friend but a nice guy who never told you of his attraction while being friendly which you took as a guy with no mention of attraction being friendly wants to be friends. However he got p*ssy that being your friend meant being treated as a friend as it means being used to him so now he's playing games to get your attention the game being female jealousy.

Last part was basically he was never your friend but a guy who was interested in you however since he never mentioned this you thought he wanted to be friends. Now he's p*ssed at being treated like a friend so he's trying to provoke your jealousy to get your attention and interest.

He probably does that with his friends. I am not saying that it is any close to being sensitive or anything, but he is switching mode to relaxed and open when he is around you. He does what he does around close friends.That is a good thing.

I am not saying that he should continue. You are not just friend and you are female. You should tell him that it is not sensitive. But I would suggest that you do it with understanding and kindly, when you two talk privately. So he gets the message but it does not force him to defensive mode. If you scream you might loose that trust and open heart of his and it would take time to get it back. Just tell him nicely that it makes you feel bad and ask him directly and kindly to stop.

Oh I don't really mind it, just found it a bit weird. I 'm happy for him to treat my 'like one of the guys', but it just doesn't seem like him (but then maybe he's just acted differently). He finds it all awkward if I point out fit guys to him haha, (so of course I use this when he does it) just wondering about reasons why. But being close friends makes sense :)

He's just very comfortable with you, enough that he's willing to engage in behavior that is considered inappropriate, if the parties evolved aren't close friends. I think he feels so comfortable with you, that he's willing to reveal an aspect of his sexuality.

Or he could be trying to make you jealous, which I doubt.

If you have feelings for this guy, which it seems you do(maybe I'm wrong), I think he might be a good match, because he has a high level of comfort for you already, and that's pretty rare amongst members of the different sex.

I don't think I have feelings for him. I am a pretty bad judge when it comes to myself, but I don't think I do. What gave you that idea? :P I'm sticking with the close friend's idea, which is fine by me as I do know him quite well by now.

Guys want to sleep with all their attractive female friends, that's a given, that's why when he was drunk he went for it, but in addition to that, he does feel very comfortable with you, just like a male friend. He might be the guy for you, try and land this guy.

I'm glad he feels comfortable around me, but I don't think I have feelings for him (and vice versa I guessuldn't say I fit with the girls he points out). Can't guys and girls just be close frineds? :P

They can be just close friends, but not if it every turns sexual.
