I think this is one of those things that just like the nice guy/bad boy dilemma, girls say one thing but actually do another. On paper, a girl will tell you that she doesn't care if you are socially awkward as long as she likes your personality and is attracted to you. The problem is if you are socially awkward 9/10 girls will not find you attractive. In other words, just like being nice, being awkward in and of itself is not the direct reason for lack of female attention, its just that those behaviors are not conducive to building attraction in a female.

The point he was making was that shyness doesn't build attraction. You may happen to like a shy guy, but I doubt that his shyness is the reason you like him. He probably has some sort of positive traits that make up for it.

Or he is just lucky. Even the inept guys get lucky every once and a while and have a girl fall into their lap. I used to be that guy until I got sick of waiting around for years just to get lucky only once. Take matters into your own hands.

i'd probably date someone who lacks social skills and is kinda awkward. I probably lack some type of social skill myself and I can be very self conscious of myself when out in prublic too. so if I'm dating someone who is awkward it would probably make me feel better that I'm not the only one who feels kinda awkward. mind you now that I think about it I wonder what it would like like seeing a couple out on a date and they're both kinda awkward and both lacking in social skills. would that be wrong? :o)

of course! it's his heart that matters and if he means well. but what do you mean kinda awkward?

if it's awkward as in never says the right things even to the ones he knows well that it might be a problem. but if it's just strangers and random people it shouldn't be a problem :)

I 'd date a guy who was socially awkward to begin with because lets face it, the majority of us are a bit awkward for the first little while, however I would hope he'd loosen up a bit after a while.

It depends how awkward. If they are a little shy and slightly awkward at times that's okay. If they are completely unable to function in social situations, that will probably get in the way.
