I'm not sports-crazy, really. But simply being interested in masculine topics is generally a turn-on.
Kind of a double-standard, too. Gamers, sports-fanatics, or computer geeks are usually avoided by women, or told we're immature.
But the moment a girl steps on board in the gaming arena, or as a math and science major, or as a sports nut, guys flock like bees to a queen. You don't even have to be all that attractive, because you'll be the most attractive gamer girl in the room! I wish it was that easy for me! lol
But really, if you can talk to guys about their interests, you'll hook 'em good!10 Reply

NOT a turn on. It IS a turn on if you will sit and watch sports with a guy and not complain and want him to turn off the TV or change the channel. You know the classic scenario. It lets him feel free and that you accept and approve of want he wants to do. But as far as knowing about the game; all the rules, stategies, players, stats, etc., not a turn on. My advice would be don't change who you are, continue to like football if that's your thing. But don't try to impress guys with your knowledge about the game. There are many other ways to connect with guys :) Don't do it over sports.

okay this is helpful. So basically, you can know and like sports, but don't try to out sport him, just have fun watching the game with him.

just out of curiosity, what are some other ways to connect with a guy?
+1 yIve been into sports my whole life. I love them, baseball, football, tennis, racquetball, hockey, and I never had a guy say anything negative about it, they seem to like it, plus it helps me to talk to them better. I don't go over board with the knowledge and stats of the games because a guy doesn't want their girl to know more about sports then them, just enough so they don't feel like they are talking to a wall.

well, it is not the general rule...yet nice answer! *thumbs up*

thanks, just helps to stay out of that " one of the guys" zone sometimes.
- +1 y
Thanks, this is a really good answer. In the future, I'll let the guy know that I like sports and that they're fun for me to watch but I won't throw stats at him.
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yI've seen it work wonders for my friend when she flirts with guys. On the other hand... I know nothing about sports, and my boyfriend loves football. He enjoys it because it gives him something totally out of my realm to teach me about. I think it can go either way.

if she's into MMA or Boxing, cool. if she's really into it, lame.
this stupid fascination with competition in sports just seems like they want to make themselves feel better for being "associated" with the winning team.
i get really bored watching any sport that isn't MMA or boxing.
and when people get really into the players, I get annoyed cause they talk about them like they're people worth praising when in reality, they're JUST HUMANS. nothing more. idc how good they are at the sport they play. at the end of the day, I could cut them and they would bleed.
besides that, most of them are duchebags. they don't contribute to society, they don't donate to charities, they just buy fancy cars and brag. MOST of them.
so any association with all that is stupid to me.
now downvote me for speaking the truth, go ahead. idc, I'm badass.02 Reply- +1 y
No I'm not going to downvote you. Thank you for your honest opinion :)
Trust me...one of the things that attracted me to my future darling wife in her Match.com profile was
her love of University of Michigan football...which translated to love of all the Boston sport teams...
As a added bonus she loves to play/watch golf...talk about the ultimate aphrodisiac for this male!31 Reply
+1 yAs long as the knowledge and interest is genuine it's a turn on. Nothing is worse than a faker and if you are a real sports nut, you probably get angry about that too. Mixed sports terms make me cringe. "Tom Brady to Welker, he's at the 20, the 10, GOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL?" errumm, HOMERUN!
21 ReplyHonestly it depends, I mean sports is sports so much you can say about skill, athleticism, points ect..
I mean I'm not one to keep up on sports so it would be a little awkward for me if a girl keeps talking to me about sports when I don't have a clue. V_V I know I know but my man card is buried in my wallet I can not give it up to be hole punched for saying this.00 Reply
+1 yIt's mostly a turn on. However, I also like a lady so I wouldn't like a girl much more athletic than I am. That would make me feel less of a man as well. But I think it doesn't matter too much though. Girls liking a sport definitely cannot be a turn off, but it may not be a turn on what I am trying to say is.
00 ReplyC: depends on what she looks like lol
as per my theory of 'what you can get away with' based on your level of attractiveness. If she's unattractive and can talk sports, then she's just cool to hang out with but not a turn on by any means.20 ReplyIt's fine by me. I don't really care that much about sports anyways.
Have fun, but don't be obnoxious. There are enough dbag guys that try to one up everyone with their sports knowledge. We don't need any more people like them.10 Reply
+1 yIt depends if the are rational about it, in which case it's great, but if they are just an overzealous fan that has a bad understanding of the sport it can be... Difficult lol
20 Replyits easy for a girl who likes sport to be labelled as "one of the guys" and therefore not considered as dating material. that said, it is not a turn off at all.
00 ReplyIt's a turn on so we watched hockey during the NHL season. But our pseudo-beloved Leafs blew it so it really doesn't matter who plays anymore.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI don't care either way, I think it's stupid to know so much about sports statistics and not what going on in your own country
21 Reply- +1 y
Just because I don't like sports doesn't mean I don't know what's going on in my own country. My country's economic standing & success is more important than any sport. Sports are a leisure activity, awareness of our country is a necessity. Just becasue people like sports does not mean that they dislike the news and current domestic issues.
Guys meet a girl like sports, will think she is very special. I don't like sports & letting me talking about it is so hard! lol
00 ReplyIn general, yes it can help make you seem a lot more of a better pick because you have a common interest with a guy but it isn't a given if the guy doesn't care to much about sports.
10 Replyof course its a turn on when girls like catching balls XD, in all seriousness though yes it is

+1 yturn off. but I never talk to girls who play sports they are too ugly and look like boys. if I wanted to talk about sports I would just talk to a guy
02 Reply- +1 y
Not all girls who play sports look like boys. There's plenty of examples too. Look at Nastia Luiken link she's a gymnast and looks like a girl. Same with Alex Morgan link on the US women's soccer team. She's pretty. Actually I think that most girls who play sports don't look like men, and they are in shape. What's wrong with that?
- +1 y
theres nothing wrong with that. gymnasts are pretty ill give you that. but soccer girls and other team sports not so much. that's my opinion.

Opinion Owner+1 yNo actually I'm in shape. I just don't spend my entire life watching a sports game freaking out if a team loses or not. I'd actually imply those sitting on their fat stupid asses are the ones with the problem.
