Why did he say "don't be sorry"?

I asked this guy if maybe he would want to write some music together this summer and he said he wasn't sure what all was gonna happen this summer but maybe we could. I felt bad then and apologized for asking and he said "don't be sorry =)" what did he mean by this?

...That you didn't have to apologize. There was no offense in what you asked him so there wasn't any reason to so he's basically saying it's okay, no big deal.
