Do guys avoid/run away from girls if they like them?

Do guys do this? Or if a guy likes a girl, will he always make a point of paying special attention to her?

generally they'll pay them special attention.

however, a slim percentage of men, who are very skilled when it comes to women, will almost purposely avoid or show no interest in a girl after planting the seed (figuratively speaking). Guys who know how to run game, know that one of the biggest rules of game is to not act too interested, & to almost act disinterested because this makes a girl perceive you to be of higher value and in turn makes her try harder to want to be with you. But again, most guys are not advanced enough to both know and put this idea into practice. That being said, its safe bet to assume that if a guy isn't paying you much attention and seems to be avoiding you, he's likely not interested, and if you did manage to change his mind. He's likely only getting with you for the fun of it since it was an easy catch.

that makes sense. if the guy is nervous/awkward around me does that make a difference? or is he just not interested because he's avoiding me and running away?

Nervous and awkward can be a sign of interest, but unless the guys is completely 100% socially inept, I doubt his nervousness would translate into avoiding you. If a nervous guy likes you, he'll still want to be around you. He just won't appear very confident and suave.

I'm just confused because he is really different with me, that's all. he basically avoids me by acting like he doesn't see me. if I talk to him he seems to be really nervous but he does seem to try to continue the conversation but maybe he's just being polite or something. if he talks to someone I'm with he will act like I'm not there and try to leave as soon as he can. it's all really confusing

I hate to say it but it sounds like he doesn't like you. The reasons he's acting that way is he knows you like him and feels threatened when you are near by. He's afraid of you making a move and he's also afraid of giving you any wrong ideas. As a result, he just kind of tries to avoid you instead of deal with the awkwardness of your one sided feelings. Think of it like when a guy hits on you that you don't like, you usually will avoid him or act different towards him.

It's really touch and feel... Depending on what I get from a girl, corresponds to how I behave. Every girl is a bit different so running at them all the same is kind of stupid. =P Will I avoid a girl I like? Sure, sometimes... It really depends on what has happened between us. I'm not going to chase after her desperately if she's acting distant. If she's actively showing interest, and I am interested I will reciprocate though.
