What does an organic cucumber look like?
What does a regular cucumber look like?
Someone brought a huge back of cucumbers, and I was wondering if they are organic or not. So I can eat THEM! :D What do they look like! ? o.0
There's no difference.
The non-organic cucumbers you see on sale are likely to be more uniform in shape and size, but that's not a consequence of the way they were grown - it's simply because that's what the retailers usually demand (non-organic farms still produce misshapen produce, but it just doesn't make it to the supermarket shelf, because most consumers want their cucumbers to look like cucumbers).
However, the typical buyer of organic produce actually prefers their vegetables to be less uniform in appearance, because it makes them seem more "natural", which they think is a good thing (even though natural isn't actually any healthier or tastier to eat).
I am pretty sure that it just means that it wasn't chemically enhanced, and was made with organic fertilizers or something. The taste in my opinion is not that different, and the organic ones tend to be smaller and twice as expensive. How's that for a difference? Other than that, I really don't care. I'm pretty sure you can relate.
I would say they're more bumpy.
Organic is free of chemicals and pesticides. Usually grown in good soil and is usually local grown. So support your farmers. They deserve your support. Also it is more expensive because it isn't in demand but the more people buy the cheaper it becomes.
Pretty sure you didn't finish watching it from when I responded to when you did. Should seriously listen to the facts. Both are fine. And both are real food. One is just more costly than the other.
That makes no sense from an economics standpoint lol. If there was a greater demand and the supplies were limited THEN it'd be more costly. But low demand with ample enough (or greater than supply) would mean lower costs.
More company's would catch on and farmers would go organic. Buying in bulk would bring the cost down. That's how things are done. Fruit and vegetables are not the only things you can get organic, you do realize that. Not everything comes from the ground or trees but an apparently an intelligent person would know that.
That is not how economics work. If more people buy it the price will go up! not down. Add more demand and the price goes up. It is clear you snoozed through economics in college
The law of demand states that, if all other factors remain equal, the higher the price of a good, the less people will demand that good. In other words, the higher the price, the lower the quantity demanded. The amount of a good that buyers purchase at a higher price is less because as the price of a good goes up, so does the opportunity cost of buying that good. As a result, people will naturally avoid buying a product that will force them to forgo the consumption of something else they value
There's no way organic foods could possibly feed the 7 billion people on the planet though. You gotta look at facts. IN fact, if we go purely organic with only organic growth, we could only support, at most, 4 billion. Which of the 3 billion are you going to kill off to make that so?
I eat organic when I am going to ingest the skin of the fruit/vegetable since I don't want all the pesticides. If in doubt I would peel before eating.
Organic ones are smaller and taste juicier and better. I've had both and there is a difference

Do eet
I'm sure you'd have fun :P
It doesn't matter. Organic is a money making scam that drags real farmers' names through the mud
So? Pesticide is %90 natural from the plant itself. And second pesticide residue has never been proven to be harmful. And even if it was it comes off after washing it thoroughly.
And organic doesn't mean "no pesticides" or even no synthetic ones. It means it doesn't use certain ones. Picked arbitrarily.
Plus I'd rather eat veggies grown in Nitrogen fertilizer (Because where does Nitrogen come from?) than eat veggies grown in cow sh*t that hasn't been properly composted and it almost never has
Don't look so surprised. You're prettier when you're smiling
Well I don't eat organic and I'm doing fin...*GAG* *THUD*grara;fhnreuhfe (Forehead hits keyboard)
"Real farmers"?
Modern farmers create more food on less land with less loss of crops then ever before. It's a bloody miracle if you take into account how hard it has been to grow food throughout history. And yet the real "Green" people (farmers) have had their reputations trashed by faddist organic liars that say their way is better but offer no evidence. Farmers are the least wasteful people on the planet. (Second place is paper companies like International paper)
They look the same. When food is organic, that means it was grown without the use of chemicals (supposedly). You can't see the pesticides, so they don't look different. You can't know whether or not food is organic unless it is labeled.
