He did it to boost his ego?

He flirted, led me on, and out of no where disappeared, our texts went on for months, he led me on to nothing, false hope.

I know girls do this too but what are signs that show a guy does this for ego boost? or what could have happened? everything was going good

Not that it really matters anymore, but this guy just posted up on Facebook that he recently got in a relationship with some girl. NOW I KNOW I WASTED MY TIME ON HIM AND GOT CAUGHT IN HIS LIES >:( I am moving on, no looking back. Thank you guys for your advice, I appreciate it.

I think you need to cut your losses and move on. This guy obviously used your feelings and took advantage of the situation.

Your instincts are correct in that he led you on, only to drop you. I wouldn't worry too much about this guy. If he truly wanted to be with you he would have made an effort and continued to pursue you, not disappear.

Some signs I think that might go with this situation are:

*He promises something but never follows through: He tells you that someday he will take you out to a nice restaurant, or take you on a trip. The key is this is in the future, he makes no definite plans and gives you no timeline for when this is going to happen.

*He drops off suddenly: Perhaps he found another girl who he wants to manipulate, or wasn't getting what he wanted from you so he dropped you. This is exactly what happened to you. Don't fall into feeling as though you have to find out why from him. He made his choice and cut himself out of your life. You should do the same, move on, get out with friends, focus on what you have going for you. Find a guy who will treat you right and actually wants to be in your life.

*He's very flirty and seems to be feeding you lines: He is always flirting with you. Some people are flirty by nature, but this guy keeps feeding you the same lines. This is how he gets you interested in him. He may even use cheesy pick up lines, there's always something that seems off about his flirting. This flirting could be very sexual, almost inappropriate at times.

*He gets mad if things aren't moving fast enough. He's mad that you won't send him sexy pics, he gets upset if you aren't willing to do things with him early on. You two aren't even dating yet and he is trying to get in your pants or trying to make out.

*You find out he has several other girls on the go. A friend of a friend was talking to him and found out he had a few other women he was chatting up too.

Hopefully this helps. But I would just forget about that loser. Find a guy who will appreciate you!

I think the first sign you listed can be it. He texted for 10months, we used to talk in high school, he texted everyday, so I have no idea why the hell he would waste his time and more importantly MY time like that. We talked about 5times of what he wanted and he always told me he wanted to date me but he needed to get time on his hands, he was busy with 2jobs. But he had so much time talking to me, he could have taken me out for 20min at least

yes. guys will flirt for an ego boost just like girls. Often guys do try to get something out of the deal, where a girl might be content with just the boost itself. Still, just remember, flirting and texts and all of that should not go on for months. At some point he should be actively moving the relationship forward. If a guy does not push you to DO something with him, he's just passing time. In the future, give a guy about 4 weeks at max to make a move. If he doesn't move on. If he's really interested he will muster the courage to ask you out. If he doesn't do it after 4 weeks its probably not worth your time anyway. The relationship will probably even be bland or stall.

He asked me out twice and never went through with it, I guess he isn't ready to date, or has no time for it, you are right, I should move on =T

If it was only texts, then he wanted nothing serious (maybe has a girlfriend or some girls on the side). Sometimes they'll just stop, because you're getting too close or because whomever he was really with was getting suspicious. Either way, he did this for his ego.

Question: Did you ever hear this guy's voice? Are you sure that this guy was who "he" said he was? There are people who play on your affections just to be mean and not everybody is who or what they say they are.

I think he had girls on the side, I even told him that I better not be a side girl, he told me to.trust him. We used to talk in high school, I havr him on Facebook as well, we live in the same city. We had not spoken on the phone, the day before he stopped communication, he called but I was at a party and didn't see the missed call til later. We have spoken through Facebook too and exchanged pics too, I'm sure it was him, I just think he was not serious about dating, I was just a flirt buddy.

I knew the same kind of guy. We had met on Facebook, and all we had were phone conversations for a bout 2months. He'd say, "Wow, you're such a great person, we should go out", but then nothing. I had just gone through a breakup and he knew it. He would set a date, then cancel out and say "I'm busy" then set another date just to cancel out again. I finally got tired of feeling like a yo-yo and stopped answering his calls, and that was that.

The only difference is that I actually had a class with this guy in high school, he isn't a stranger to me, but I hace not seen him in 3yrs.Wow, I bet you did get tired, after 2dates being canceled, it would be hard to keep believing in their words and see no actions =\

Actually, it was 4! LoL.. And my ex was trying to reconcile when this guy asked me out first time. Of all the choices I've made, I would say that saying no to my ex was the stupidest.. :P

But, yeah, actions speak much louder than words..

He's gone occupying his time with what he feels is more worthy, a girl or whatever. You had your chance, but didn't give him the right feel so he moved on. The blame in this regard falls between both of you, not just on him like these other pricks are saying.

He's either immature or a player. Honestly, you are better off without him. There are plenty of good guys out there. Don't sell yourself short. Don't let this guy deflate your self-esteem...it's his problem, not yours.

I travel every month for work, one week at a time. I finally caught my ex-bf "cheating" on me every time I was out of town. The calls/emails/flirtation/dates with this one girl would stop when I was around, and then start as soon as I left...until he got caught.

Maybe he has a girlfriend. Maybe they are going through some tough times and he wanted to see what it's like with someone else. Who knows? You deserve better. Move on.

can you give me some ideas of why guys would get scared, I mean we hadn't even gone on a date, but we used to talk in high school, we texted for months but he was too busy with work and eventually asked me out and we never ended up going, he avoided it but yet kept flirting and said he really was interested, he eventually told me he had to work at the last min. that day we were suppose to date.
