Does anyone else just find video chatting really really awkward?

I'm not an awkward person at all, I chat really well, but I find in video chats that its just so awkward, I haven't done one in ages and I find them just bad. People often take offense when I say no I don't want to do one, because its so awkward for me. Its just that both of you are staring at each other, there isn't much body language, and the microphones are terrible and I often cut across the person by accident and then it leaves a really rude/awkward silence, plus my accent doesn't do me any favours because I end up repeating things like 5 times to people.

No. I Skype my friends and it's fluid. Like we talk like we'd talk in person.

When the connection is sh*tty it gets annoying, jokes bomb cause you need to reapeat them 12 times for the other person to hear, and just the conversation sucks. But with a good connection it's pretty cool.

Yeah I'm horrible at video chatting.. I don't know why because generally I'm a pretty funny guy. Admittedly I'm funnier in groups but still I can't think of much to say over video chat. I use a lot of body language and physical comedy too so I always feel at a loss for things to say.

It's awkward for the most part...unless you talk to a very talkative person who can keep the conversation going, or keep the different topics going.

If you're talking to someone that barely talks and expects you to initiate all the topics, then it's torture.

Ugh. I hate video chatting too! It sucks. I feel like I can't talk to the person well enough and the movements sometimes gets so slow. It's a hassle

It's awkward, but fun. The only time it's no good is if there is lag and the picture becomes largely pixelated

it depends who I'm talking to really, but yea it's generally awkward. I love when the cam freezes and I'm doing a totally weird Quasimodo-looking face.

Yes. It's very awkward. Video chat seems fine for interviews but for meaningful conversations it's just weird.

No I find it pretty useful. I find it a lot easier to talk to someone on video chat than on the phone

yes I do it with my parents sometimes and any pauses in the conversation, which wouldn't be a big deal in person or on the phone, all the sudden seem kind of strange as you sit there staring at each other.
