Is America’s screen addiction killing our small talk with strangers?

Most people can't hold a convo with people they don't know past 5 minutes. In person I am talking about. Most people in other countries like Latin America, etc can. They are great conversationalists with people they don't know as well. Here most people are awkward to an extent with that. Many people I talked to about this agree with me and they traveled or lived in other countries. It is something they noticed too.

It is not just killing it with strangers. t the college I work at I watch the students walking to class and they walk in groups but they are all looking at their phones and nobody is talking. They look like zombies.
