How impact does physical affection have on men?

I was just reading an article and it said women do not understand just how much men are impacted by physical affection.  So, pray tell.  Just what effect does physical affection have on you romantically?

Women don't understand a lot of things. And are almost clueless about men.

I'm not surprised there's yet another article like this one.

Most women are too self absorbed to give a sh*t about what men actually think.

Or the ones that do they just read Cosmo and assume that what the other women tell them who write in it say is true.

Even though the men writers in those magazines are brutality scrutinized whenever a man writes what we REALLY think, and is forced to re-write it according to what the woman want us to think, and not what we actually think.

A friend of mine works for them and he's brow beaten every day by his female bosses to write what women think not what men think.

ANd now to answer your question.

Men are irritated when women say they don't want to view sex as an obligation.

Men don't want women to feel that way either.

But we also know that with physical affection, it doesn't always have to lead to sex but we would prefer it if it did at least most of the time.

But when woman complains that she feels "obligated" to have sex we have to assume she doesn't like it.

I have a dog who I feed every day.

I fed him one type of dog food and he only eats it if I HAND feed it to him.

I have another type of dog food that I put it in a bowl and he goes up and actually eats it himself in the bowl.

And then I have another type of treat that is like jerky treats and he barks and barks and barks when I open the drawer cause he knows what's in there.

He doesn't do that for ANY other type of food.

You can relate this to how people react. You judge them based on their actions. Not what they say.

The dog that actually INITIATES going after the food instead of it being "hand fed" to him proves that he actually likes the one he barks for or goes and eats by himself.

In other words, people work for things or put effort towards things they ACTUALLY LIKE.

Conversely, a woman who doesn't initiate sex or who claims she feels like its an obligation is telling men, she doesn't like sex.

People don't feel obligated to do things they actually like doing.

And because men link physical affection with intimacy, sometimes it translates emotional to them that they don't like THEM either.

But most women don't give a sh*t, or they read bias Cosmo mags that tell feminist lies.

I think the way men are affected by physical affection varies with each individual guy. First of, many guys are raised with the notion of being strong and not showing emotions. They are the providers, protectors, disciplinarians, basically all of the things that some men tend to be unable to associate with hugs, kisses, positive reinforcement.

That doesn't mean that men aren't affected by physical closeness. Of course we give and receive hugs and kisses from mom coming up, we show physical affection to our siblings as well.

I think sometimes it's hard for a guy to show physical affection with a mate because some guys tend to misinterpret being too openly affectionate as signs that others will view him as weak, or not as manly, except when they feel it may lead to sex.

Personally I love to show the affection to my woman, be it a hug, a kiss, holding hands when walking in public, teasing her hair, tickling. It all give me a sense of being desired by her as well as letting her know she is mutually desired.

Also, when I used to send my children to school (they're grown now) I used to always hug them and kiss them on the forehead before sending them off to school, until it got awkward for me to do it while their friends could see it. I still hug them when I see them. I just always wanted to express the love for my children that my father didn't show to me. Don't get me wrong, I know my father loved us, he just was one of those guys who didn't show a lot of physical affection towards his kids. In fact the first time I really got a long hug from him was the night I boarded a flight to attend university which was 1200 miles away. I think he realized that when he got home from work the next day I wouldn't be sitting at the dinner table, or in my room. In regard to my mother, she always hugged and kissed us when coming up and it made us feel loved and appreciated.

I really believe that physical affections bring you closer to your loved ones. The more you express, the more sense of belonging it brings. I know I feel very close to my loved ones, especially my woman.

Bottom line, some guys are very affectionate and don't mind showing it to those they love. It gives them a sense of belonging as well as a sense of purpose. Also, just because some guys find it hard to show affection physically, doesn't always mean they love you any less. It all comes down to how they're raised and what their perceptions are regarding their image.

I think initially physical attraction is big, not just for men, but for women as well. People in general are drawn to one another because of a certain level of physical attraction. I don't think physical attraction is the most important issue once you establish some sort of dialogue with the other person. For me character then comes into play.

A woman can be drop dead gorgeous but if she has a bad character, like being self centered, selfish, materialistic, confrontational, lack some sort of morality or have uncontrollable or heavy psychological issues, then her stock begins to plummet and her attractiveness becomes null in void.

Some guys tend to place too much emphasis on physical attraction, but for many men, myself included, it is only important when deciding who we want to approach.

Bottom line is, even if she isn't going to be on the cover of a high end fashion magazine, she still has to be somewhat pleasing on the eyes. Also, it's not just men, but women quite often feel the same way.

Very big. I never say this for risk of sounding like a sexist sex maniac but I absolutely need sex to be happy in a long term relationship. It makes me feel loved, wanted, needed, like a man lol. All that corny sounding stuff... You want to keep a man happy, take 20 minutes out of your day to rock his world and he will be the most satisfied guy among his friends and he will probably be extra nice to you lol.

Men like having sex with women. Men like making out with women. This is obvious. But romantically? I don't follow. Straight men can usually take or leave when it comes to romance. That's something women are into, the "head trip" and emotional rollercoaster of "falling in love". Women tend to need to be psyched out by the idea of romance. Men don't work this way.
