How do unaffectionate men show affection? Do they even like recieving normal affection?

What makes a man unaffectionate? How do you give an unaffectionate guy, the type of affection he might like? What affection do affectionately awkward guys respond to? Do they even like normal affection?

A guy I like is so awkward with any affection I try to give him. He hugs me awkwardly. If I try to tell him sweet things, I'm not sure if the affection makes him uncomfortable or feels good to him. I think he wants it, just I'm not sure if he's not sure how to accept it or return it. How can I tell if he likes me or my affection; even though he's bad in the affection department?

Some men just don't know how to handle and accept it, even if they do appreciate it, it's just awkward to them.

If he is shy, this might also be part of why he is awkward about it. In time he may open up to it and be more comfortable with reciprocating the affection more physically. I usually show my affection through gifts of sorts, words of affirmation and just spending time with her. I can tell you from past experience that when it came to physical touching, like holding hands in public, she usually had to initiate it at first until I just became more open to doing it myself.

I haven't dated in a few years and I've changed a little since then I like to think, so maybe it was just because I was nervous or didn't feel like I knew the appropriate time and place for physical affection, I questioned whether she wanted it if she wasn't initiating it herself, etc.

As for what type of affection I responded best to, truthfully, it wasn't much. I disliked people buying me things but loved buying stuff for them. I did appreciate compliments and her dedicating her time to me, and I did enjoy physical affection even if it didn't seem like it at times.

That can only come with the time you investing spending on him. If you are patient enough to be around him till he decides to open more, you will be able to find out if he likes your affection or not.

Nahhh, I'm a realistic kind of girl. The most far out thing I'd ever want a guy to do is simply tell me he loves me and, if possible, kiss me good night every night. If you want to do more than that, it's flattering and more power to you!

As for this guy I like, I just want him to hold me in his arms and give me a kiss. I'm just not sure how to get him too. We are both awkward. We have a 30 years age gap to add to it all and a very weird situation. I'm not sure if I'll ever get that wish. It's hard to read him and I'm sending him texts telling him things I find cute but, he just never responds. In person, he seems to be making more of an effort to talk to me though. But he could just be trying to be friendly.

I've not been sending social media. Just the occasional "I think the twinkle you get in your eyes is cute" or somewhat flirty but I can take it back if he outright rejects it type of things. o. o" Paraphrasing of course.

I'm trying to be as direct as possible in my hints. He seems to be more nervous than usual when he's alone with me. The other day he waited until I hugged him before actually going. I'm not sure if he wanted me to actually kiss him or just the polite hug thing. I'm not sure how to test the waters. I really want to see if he would let me kiss him without seeming creepy or something. As I said, his awkwardness makes him very hard to read. I'm awkward too sooo, I'm wondering if it's mutual on that respect.

Any ideas on something closer than a hug but not quite a kiss on the lips yet? Or how can I see, without asking, if he wants to kiss me too?
