Does he like anime or manga? If he does that explains it alot, as a huge thing in it for relationships of how carrying somebody is cute and what not. Piggy back rides and princess carry styles are just very big and if he does read/watch then it explains why he would want to. or you are just cute and small.

I think just to be nice to you. My boyfriend does it too whenever I'm in some form of pain or discomfort whilst walking or tired, but he does randomly offer them. They're just being affectionate. It's an excuse to be close to you. It also lets them show off how big and manly they are. If you're comfortable with it, let them cart you around from time to time.
