being too rational doesn't mean you lack emotion. As humans we all have the capacity to experience the same emotions, and we all do, we just learn how to disguise the ones we'd rather not let others see.
The disadvantages to being too rational is that you lack flexibility and you need information that has and can be trialed and tested in order to change your belief systems.
The problem with this is, there's more in existence that hasn't been trialed, tested and studied, than there is things that have. So being too rational limits you.

It's not human.
Emotion is as valid as logic. There's no reason it shouldn't be.
It's normal to act on whim, feeling and emotion without thinking, or using a rational process.
Some people reckon that decisions made on logic are "better" than those made via emotion. I say bollocks to that. Logic is just a process, little more than that.
i find that too rational can lack emotion and not able to feel for people..
can come across as bit hostile/cold

Yes and no.
No because in the literal sense being too rational that it is causing your decisions to greatly inflict with emotion (in a bad way), can be argued as not being rational...I'm very rational, overthinking everything all the time
I miss spontaneity, the feeling of letting all things go without caring (I hate having been drunk), carelessness thus.
