ok but like i have a terrible habit of entering online discussions of my favourite animes lol. i was totally shocked to witness fans calling the second male lead of yubisaki to renren / a sign of affection anime, oushi, a total misogynistic ableist guy for telling the main character to not go out at night, or overly trust her love interest, this older handsome guy. and im like, hold on?

1. She's a teenage girl. 2. She's mute. 3. It's Japan we're talking about! There's a myriad of tweets on weird behaviour of Japanese men... Of course as a friend he's gonna worry? He's gonna scold her? He likes her too, although he's not particularly nice about it. How is risky behaviour empowering for mute women?

I know this somewhat high-profile guy who’s friends with very attractive influencer type girls who gets nervous around me. He struggles to make eye contract and looks down when he sees me, would look at me when he thinks I’m not looking and also sometimes do awkward hand movements when he sees me (like he doesn’t know what to do with himself).

Is he thrown off his game? Or am I just so different than what he’s used to?
