Why is obesity being accepted as okay? Let alone beautiful

So, lately I've seen a lot of skinny shaming shit online. Personally, I think it makes no sense to attempt to shame perfectly healthy people. Yes there are girls that are skinny because of eating disorders and unhealthy habits, but a lot of us are naturally skinny or actually work for our figure.

It seems to me that a lot of fat and obese women are hiding behind "curvy" to make them feel better about their size. But I see no problem with making it publicly known that being fat IS unhealthy and shouldn't be promoted as a good thing.

"At least 200 people in the UK are costing the NHS £16million because weighing 35 stone and more they are too fat to leave their home, it has been claimed.
Bed-ridden and needing up to four visits a day by health workers, they cost an average of £80,000 a year each, but this is believed to be just the tip of the iceberg."

"£4.2 billion is spent on obesity every year by the NHS. This astonishing amount of money is spent on gastric bypass operations, stomach stapling, jaw wiring, cosmetic surgery and medications for diabetes, high blood pressure and numerous other problems brought on by living lazily on a diet of, well, crap. "

If you don't live in England I guess you don't have a problem with this but as a tax payer I certainly do.

I think it's just plain selfish to allow yourself to get into such a state and I see no reason why I should just accept this as the way it is.

So that's it, I've said my piece.

PS: I understand that some people are obese due to illness or whatever.
