How to Battle Your Sickness: 5 Simple Steps

I'm making this because I'm throwing up and can't get out of bed. However, I once was able to recover in two days. Here's how I did it.

But first, a disclaimer: I am not a doctor nor do I have any honest-to-God medical training. This is just someone who is sick and has some tips and tricks that you should treat as such, rather than as the ten commandments and obviously not everything is going to work for everyone, I encourage you all to think before you act. With that said, let's begin.



1. Get plenty of rest

First let's get the obvious out of the way, you need to get plenty of rest and let your body focus on fighting the illness. So you should stay in bed as often and for as long as you can until you get your health back.



2. Drink lots of liquids

Another obvious one, but this is SUPER important. You should drink healthy (but light) drinks including (but not limited to) water, tea, juice (orange or Apple being the most recommended), and anything with ginger if you have stomach problems (such as ginger tea or ginger ale). You want to steer clear of soda (some like Sprite are okay, but for the most part, you want to avoid anything with too much sugar and bubbles and stuff like that has caffeine in it (unfortunately, the pot's calling the kettle black here, because I have indulged in a Diet Coke before when I was sick ๐Ÿ˜‚)) , and alcohol (sorry booze hounds).



Now for a little backstory here, when I was little and throwing up, I was too weak to drink anything and I ended up suffering from dehydration and had to go to the hospital and they injected me with a needle to help cure it (which SUCKED) and I was stuck there for HOURS! Moral of this story, YOU MUST DRINK HEALTHY LIQUIDS! Whether you have a cold, the flu, or whatever. But especially if you're vomiting or have diarrhea because you're losing a lot of water in your body and you need to get it back.



3. Take your medicine

I'll bet you're probably thinking "is Captain Obvious writing this take?" But no, I'm just stating what I've noticed that some people fail to do, and this is one of them. Probably because medicine is one of the grossest things we've ever tasted, but the germs think it's gross too (see what I did there? ๐Ÿ˜) But seriously, if you take medicine, it will help your body to fight the illness (and it will help you drink more fluids when you drink water to wash that medicine down!)



4. Go device free!

This is a real thing, you go device free, you can rest easier and sleep more and just get more and better rest. The reason is because if you stare at a screen, phone or other wise, you get this build up in the back of your eyes that makes it harder to sleep (I don't how it works exactly). So go device free for better rest! ๐Ÿ˜‰



5. Be clean!

If you wash yourself (hands and body) the less likely the germs are going to be able to keep up the fight. However, I'd recommend a bath instead of a shower so that you can lay down as opposed to having stand up for however long it takes you to wash yourself. Plus, what better way to relax during an illness than a hot bath? ๐Ÿ˜Š
