There are several diets out there that many people are opting in to try. Whatever diet that you choose, you have to make sure it works for you and that you can stick to it. People often find themselves dieting for several reasons, some have good reasons, while others may not. There's several reasons why you shouldn't and should diet.

Reasons why you SHOULDN'T diet:


1. Because you "think" you're fat. This is almost always the wrong approach to dieting. Thinking you are fat isn't going to allow you to stick to a nutricious diet, instead you'll end up starving yourself and probably go into starvation mode. This can damage the metabolism, cause dehydration, malnutrition and even death. You'll end up packing on the pounds x2 the moment you eat "normal" again.


2. To impress a guy/girl. Don't ever change for a person, change for yourself. Dieting to impress a crush or significant other isn't the proper approach at all, because you're not doing it to make you happy and if that person didn't notice you before, the chance of them noticing you later is slim. Think of it this way, if they do start noticing you after you've lost the weight, then most likely the moment you gain it back, they'll treat you like you don't exist again.


Reasons why you SHOULD diet:


1. To be healthier. Dieting for health is a very important thing to do. Your health is very important for your overall well-being and can add some years to your life. This approach allows you to care more about the nutritional value of the foods that you eat instead of the calories that you intake. It allows you to focus on the goal to being a better healthier you!


2. To look and feel good. You can't deny it, but looking good=feeling good. When you look good, you feel better about yourself and this approach to dieting is good for those who wanna look and feel sexy in that new dress or bikini(nothing wrong with it). Do it for yourself and you'll be happy that you took on this approach.


3. To improve a medical condition. A personal story: My grandmother was diagnosed with diebetes and was told that if she didn't start taking care of herself, she could lose her sight and even some of her limbs. It was a terrible wake-up call for her. My grandmother cleaned up her act and began juicing and a vegan diet. She lost over 75 lbs and cured her diabetes. Her blood tests were golden and she realized that she could change her life by changing her diet. This approach is usually the last resort for most. Hopefully, we dont have to endure a wake-up call before we decide to be healthier.



*Dieting is very important for weight loss. Almost 80% of successful weight loss is due to diet change, while the remaining 20% is exercise. A healthy diet and moderate exercise is essential according to The American Heart Association.
