Don't wait to get fit, start now! Summer is right around the corner and if you're anything like me you've put off your quest for a beach ready body until now. Below are 10 apps that will help get you in tiptop shape for summer and beyond. They all not all workout apps, a few keep track of what you eat and others aim to motivate:
Healthy Out
Eating healthy can be tough, especially when you have friends (like mine) who like to go out to eat all the time. HealthyOut searches for local restaurants that have healthy dishes by looking at calories, points and nutrition tags. They also have a "not a salad" filter for folks who want to eat healthy, but don't want to be limited to salads.
The only app that is perfect for workout beginners and workout addicts. You let Nike+ Training know what you want (to get lean, toned or strong) and the app creates a 4-week program based on what you want to do and how much you want to do it. It also tracks your progress, so you don't have to.
The best thing about the Nike+ running app is that you can pair it with the Nike + Training Club app to get even more results. If you workout 2-3 times a week the app will suggest that you add 1-2 runs to you schedule. The Nike+ Running app tracks where you run and how long it takes.
Want to run a marathon or become a stronger runner, but have zero motivation to do so? If so, this app is the one for you. With Couch to 5K you start you off slowly — the first few workouts incorporate running and walking — and eventually work up to nonstop running. The app also gives you cues to guide you and keep you motivated throughout each workout.
Do you want to take 10,000 steps a day or walk to more places? Moves automatically tracks how much you walk, cycle and run everyday. All you have to do is carry your phone in your pocket or bag.
Lose It! is a weight loss program that helps you can track your weight loss and give you tips on how to keep it off. It counts your calories and customizes a weight loss plan that fits your busy lifestyle. You set goals and complete them on YOUR own terms, not the apps.
Fitocracy builds workouts for you, creates personalized nutrition plans, assigns you a coach based on your experience, tracks you progress with interactive charts and keeps you motivated and on track (all in the same app.) If you an "all-in-one" type of person you'll really like this app.
With this app you can set training goals and complete against yourself by challenging past activity results. Runtastic lets you track of distance, number of workouts, duration and calories burned. It can also be integrated with MyFitnessPal (below).
Ladies, this app is for you. Let's be real we all we really want for summer are tight abs and a firm butt. This butt trainer app helps you achieve one of those. No gym needed.
This app says it can transform your body in just 7-minutes a day. Researchers put together 12 exercises that can be performed in seven minutes and achieve the equivalent of an hour’s workout. The catch? You have to give the workout everything you have (high-intensity) with rest little to no rest in-between exercises, but hey its only SEVEN minutes out of your day.
This app easily tracks your diet and connects to 50 other apps like Fitbit and MapMyFitness. MyFitnessPal promises to help you gets those extra pounds off and keep them off.
This is the only app that pays you for exercising end eating right. The best part is that the members who aren’t staying active pay you, as long as you complete your goals. What’s better than that?
Usually I would agree with you, but I live in Eastern Canada. I feel like summer 2016 will be arriving around the same time as summer 2016 at this point :P
Is there an app that gives you the desire to run? No? They should invent that next. I probably won't be making use of any of these running ones until then :P
i feel like the a good way to make the desire is some sort of video game thing, where you set really objective goals like: run 10 miuntes, next level run 20 minutes + bonus 50 push ups. that way ill be intressted to keep pushing
I've heard that 'moves' is the most accurate app. But I use my stock 'S health' app. It tracks my steps, running and climbing. My total calorie intake and sets a goal to lose specific amount of calories. The barometer, accelerometer, thermometer and hygrometer in my mobile helps in accuracy of this app.
But after reading this take, I'm interested in Nike+ apps. Thanks.
I've been using MyFitnessPal for the best part of a year and highly recommend it - once you get into the habit of using it, it's easy to stay on top of it and realize just how many calories are in some of your favourites!
I downloaded the Nike+Training Club app to use and chose the 4 week program to get toned. Did the first workout today, it was fun and it definitely made me sore so I guess that's how I know it's working. Lol
I can rarely use diet apps because they don't coincide with my diet. But nike training club is awesome. I love that app, it kicks my butt and leaves me super sore
