Is sushi safe? Not just from parasites but any other food borne illnesses?

I have a fear of food poisoning since getting it pretty bad a while ago.
I would love to try sushi and my friend knows a nice sushi place to go to and we're planning on going tomorrow.
I read a lot of articles and the risk of getting a parasite is almost zero, but what about other illnesses? Like Just throwing up and diarrhea? Is that risk greater with raw fish than with other food? I'm very skeptical about fast food places even so I'd like to know.
Also when it comes to safety, what fish is the safest, minus tuna?
