Quitting smoking for good... any good/decent advice?

Monsieur_Gamma
After 5 years of tobacco smoking I've decided to quit altogether. I'm into my first day now, and I'm feeling OKish.

I bought myself a e-lite (electric cigarette) to compensate for the nicotine cravings, but I will gradually cut down on its concentration over this summer.

The reason why I've decided to stop is of course because of the health problems linked with smoking, but also the fact that I've realised how fit I could potentially become.

I've always been really good at swimming and football (soccer) - even whilst smoking - but, without it, I can only get better.

Plus smoking has cut my appetite dramatically, so it's only another certainty that when I stop I'll be able to eat more.

My GF kept telling me she was OK with the fact I smoked, but I knew deep down she found it repulsive, so it's for her too.

Anyone else out there in the process of quitting, are thinking of it, or have quit already? Could you give me some advice? :)
