Discussing body type: SuperSkinny VS SuperSize?

I am currently watching this sequel that I came across on YouTube. One subtopic part of the program is this lady who is trying to "ban big bums" She wants to try to get all of the lady's to slim down their behinds. Watching this part of the documentary kind of annoyed me for some sort of reason. Many of the women who she chose out of the crowd were the ladies who were on the bigger end of the scale. I don't think its right that one, some people can not help that they have junk in the trunk, and two, that this women is just picking out the larger ladies and is trying to get them to lose these extra inches around their hips and bums. So my question is, do you think that in some countries (this show was taped in Britain) still want their women to be petite? I would really like your opinions on this topic. No hate comments please, this is souly out of curiosity.

I like big butts and I cannot lie. lol

I can't stand these kind of objectifying over-analyses of women. If you want to analyze someones lifestyle and encourage them to be healthy and eat good foods, fine. Just telling women to fit your ideal of beautiful, telling them at first glance what the prescribed body shape is for them... It's not my cup of tea. It's incredibly over-played, yet still just as effective on the psyches of women everywhere as it has been in the past.

And declaring what body shapes are "natural" or "unnatural" for women is just as disturbing. Something may be less common or more common, and more so in certain groups than others, but to say that its just "not natural" is actually fucked up on a few levels. You're trying to definitely state what is the correct way for a woman to be shaped. I don't understand how women themselves can be so ignorant and encouraging of this kind of body policing. I mean I get it, but its still really sad. This is in reference to a comment I read below, but its really a fit note for this topic as a whole.

There are definitely cultural differences though. I know women from several countries and cultures would laugh at this as if it were a joke. In some cultures, people favor women with bigger butts and hips because they're more common, and seen as more feminine. In others, its not as favored. In some countries, butt implants are among the most commonly performed plastic surgeries, while in others breast implants are more popular. Differences.

I've actually read of studies indicating that carrying more of your overall weight in the lower body may correlate with improved health and intelligence for women, as well as reduced risks of certain illnesses. So, pros and cons.

I love that show and I don't think there is anything wrong with that really. What she did was to use your butt where a lot of women store fat as a measurement to measure weight loss. And they tried different things to lose the weight. It was supposed to be fun.
I actually think the did a good job there because they choose real women, not women who already have a good body.

I know big butts are in style these days, but truth is for most a big butt is mostly fat and even if you "carry it well" it does have all the effects being overweight comes with. Just because you store it in your butt, doesn't mean it's not harmful.
Not to mention that most people aren't kim kardasian. I hate the current beauty ideal even more than the super skinny one, because what they want now is big boobs, big butt but tiny waist and slim everything else. Really? At least super thin models are proportional and therefore more realistic.

The internet is a bad place for that. Often they photoshop awesome butts on women and men believe that. Hell most women do.

That's so true. I guess I got a little offended with the way she was saying it because I have a noticeably large butt but I am skinny. My breasts are 32DD, my waist is 34, an my hips are 36. So I kind of took it as that if you have a large butt you are assumed to be unhealthy. Thank you for your input! :)

are you sure you measure that right?
34 isn't small for a waist and 36 isn't big. I mean my butt is 35 inches and I feel it's quite small

Another thing is, as I'm sure a lot of latin women will tell you. A big butt look great until 20 and then it takes a lot of work and at some point it just looks terrible. You're better off losing it and from what I remember most women were quite old in that video. Older women can't afford to have fat as much as younger women do

I agree in general. I think it should be outlawed really. It's taking ridiculous proportions

Carrying weight in your midsection and hips (saddlebags) are the two most unhealthy places for women to carry their weight. I guess it increases health risks more than if you were to carry the weight elsewhere.

I tend to carry my weight in my butt. That being said, my butt is quite small because I work out.

I can't speak for all guys, but I do know my guy finds my figure (petite) to be very attractive.

Guys like petite figures usually but there are exceptions of course.

well if they didn't want to lose weight then they wouldn't participate in the show right? its peoples business what they want to do with their bodies really is it not? everybody has their own preference to what they want their partners to look like be like.

I love that show! Of course countries still want women to be petite lol Look at a lot of eastern european countries and you'll find this to be true.
