+1 yI have read that there aren't a lot of studies that have been done on marijuana proving long term damage. The harmful effects I'm aware of is you can throw up from smoking too much, breathing in anything that isn't oxygen is bad for your lungs (smoking), you snack too much lol, may make poor decisions while high that will cause you harm etc. I haven't read anything on the effects on your brain or health on smoking/ingesting/vaping regularly. I imagine there must be an extent that can't be good for you but I can't say. I also would imagine that being high regularly at a young age might have harmful effects as the brain is still developing but I'm not a scientist or doctor and haven't done any research, that's just my own guess. On the other hand it's been shown to help children and adults who suffer from chronic seizures that are debilitating by reducing the their frequency and I think severity (?). I know that "Memory loss, anxiety, stress can all lead to other health risks" but that at the same time it can relieve anxiety and stress.
In my opinion it would be helpful for some objective studies be done with no ties to anti drug groups, pro marijuana groups or the government.01 Reply
Asker+1 yThere is so much confusion about marijuana. No specific sites can really be singled out and can be considered reliable.

+1 yIt all depends how you're using it. Are you smoking it with tobacco? If so, you get all the negatives of smoking tobacco, but even worse, because you're not using a filter. With blunts, the negatives are reduced, but apparently there's a higher risk of cancer. With edibles, you still risk the effects of THC on your immune system, but without the cancer risk. To, techincally yes, it is harmful, but it's no worse than alcohol or fast food, so long as you do it in moderation.

Asker+1 yBut even if it's in moderation, like once a month, can it still affect?
- +1 y
No, once a month would be completely fine.
Asker+1 yOkayy :)
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yYes. Smoking does have the same carcinogenic effects as with smoking anything else. The effect is "countered" (lessened) by the THC in the product however it is not prevented, circumvented, or otherwise destabilizes a natural propensity to cancers of the lungs. A common myth is that it just doesn't do that but the problem with smoking is smoke inhalation which has nothing to do with the product itself being smoked.
If you must intake marijuana use another route.33 Reply
Asker+1 yOh... okayyy... so why do people try to prove otherwise? Like... weed is the least affecting drug, and all?
Opinion Owner+1 yThe popularity of the drug is at work.

+1 yIt's probably less harmful then cigarettes and alcohol health wise.
It is probably more harmful toward goal setting and emotional/mental growth.
I just think weed is pretty fucking lame. Who wants to sit around hungry and tired? Its for lazy people in my opinion.02 Reply
Asker+1 yLol... but many people smoke weed and have creative outbursts.
- +1 y
Creative outburst does not equal creative action.

Asker+1 yYeah, that's confusion. Some say it cures cancer, while others say it causes cancer -_-
- +1 y
@Asker its not only about the cancer, someone told me it contains enough carbon monoxide to damage your lungs in the long run and then someone told me the smoke doesn't do any damage to any part of the human body. I don't know lol. im neutral about it for now.
Asker+1 yOkay... but it's drug. Even though a mild one but it would have its own effects.

+1 yIt's harmful, but not in the way people think.
(1.) You're smoking it. Smoking is bad for you, m'kay? It doesn't matter that it isn't tobacco.
(2.) Weed temporarily lowers your intelligence. Now, this wouldn't be that bad if you're someone who only smokes like once a month or something. Most people who smoke pot smoke it all the damn time, like everyday. Eventually this will just start making you regularly stupid. Anyone who has met a true stoner can attest to this. They usually don't do well in school, either.13 Reply
Asker+1 yShouldn't they just leave it, then?
Honestly, I could write a novel on this subject, but I recommend you just go to Google and read unbiased articles. Anything from the gov or other anti drug groups is crap and anything that's obviously pro marijuana isn't going to give a good answer either.

Asker+1 yThat's the confusing part. It's difficult to judge an unbiased site.

+1 yTry meeting some people who smoke it many times a day, you'll know. In my experiences, their skin has badly dried up. Tend to forget things quickly. Previously addicted to other drugs, suffers from depression etc Their head looks small too like a big part of their brain has shrunk. They have a superior complex when they're on it. Can promise you the whole world and acts like your best friend.

Asker+1 yDo you know someone in real life who smokes weed? Because as per researches, weed doesn't affect effect the physical body much.
- +1 y
If one smoke it too long and very exccessively, the effects are harmful. I know a few who'd take it. It affects their personality for the biggest part.
i only saw more of the worse when i got to know them really well.
you can meet people but they won't tell you the bad things, they go through with marijuana but as they open up to u... You will see it for how it is - +1 y
Well my friend's uncle, died of lung cancer from smoking it too much.
i know another, he takes it for his arthritic pain, he said it dims his perception a d makes him lazy... He tries not to take more than he has to, because he has to do so much daily.
+1 yThere's literally nothing harmful about it. I smoke on occasion, and it has done nothing to negatively alter my physical health. I also have a few friends that are HEAVY smokers, so if it was harmful at all, those guys would be dead.

Asker+1 yI guess occasional smoking doesn't make you an addict. You can resist, right?
- +1 y
Yeah, I get offered all the time, its really not that great. I mean I enjoy it, but I don't understand how some people love it lol. I don't think its addicting at all, all of my pot head friends could stop cold turkey if they chose to.
Asker+1 yI know some people who LOVE it and call themselves biggest potheads -_- Can they leave it without withdrawal symptoms?
- +1 y
From what I've seen, there's really no withdrawal symptoms other than "man I feel like smoking". It's like having a craving, nothing serious.

Smoking anything is harmful, so yes. It will damage your lungs. Perhaps not in the same way that tobacco smoke will, but they will still be damaged.

+1 yYes it stimulates your brain cells to release dopamine which is a neurotransmitter that plays a crucial role in our physical and mental health!!!<3

Asker+1 yHow does it effect physical health?
- +1 y
Smoking it often can lead to repatriation problems, lung infections, and lung cancer. Also there is reason to believe now that smoking weed can lead to Parkinson's disease because of the rapidly unhealthy amount of dopamine being released!!!<3
Asker+1 yOh okay... but many articles state that weed is specifically use for medical purposes for curing cancer.
- +1 y
Yes, but in those cases they are taking it orally not inhaling it!!!
It could be particularly harmful to the food in you're fridge, or in the cabinet lol.
