Not Japanese but I have a few friends from there and let me tell you, they struggle with their weight just as much as we do.
I think being thin has been in style there far longer, in times where women had practically nothing else but their looks, so it became a culture of thin people. Which doesn't mean that they don't struggle with it. You should see the crazy dieting tools and pills they have over there.
My friend has this kinda toe ring that's supposed to push some pressure points to make her feel less hungry
But ok, some of the things they eat. Overall they don't bake. Any kind of pastry, bread or other baked goods is extremely rare
They don't usually eat a sweet breakfast from what I've seen. My housemate usually makes a quick noodle soup with vegetables, instant noodles and an egg. Obviously using actual, real noodle would be healthier.
And Lunch and dinner are much like that. Some kind of noodle soup often. Other than that just plain rice with some kind of vegetable and some kind of meat and lots of soy/oyster sauce (which obviously is loaded with sodium). They hardly ever make sauces for their food, so just the plain vegetables
My other friend is from thailand and she makes curry quite often using coconut milk and curry paste. Which is high in calories but is IS healthy. She also wraps to take to class out of rice paper instead of tortillas

they eat a lot of noodles, meat, fish and vegatables, but indeed low fat. Very often their meal is an kind of soup with vegatbles and noodles in it. But yes, you have also japanese that struggle with weigth. You don't have to eat Japanese to become slim, you have to eat balanced and healthy, so stay away from junk food, sweats and soft drinks.
traditionally they eat a lot of seafoods and natural food, well even today they still do. basically just eat more natural foods and no processed foods.
Wants to do "Japanese" diet... doesn't know what the Japanese eat... Logic fail and Dumbest.. question... EVER.
