For those who work, how often do you take (or fake) sick days?

Just curious.. I've already taken one in January, and then today I decided to take one as well. Am I doing this too much? how often do you?

It depends on how pissed off they're making me at work, really. There was one year where I took a sick day almost like.. every other week.

Our new GM is requiring a doctors note now, though, so even if I was legitimately vomiting I'd have to go into work and just hang out with a trashcan because I can't afford to go to the doctor.

I haven't taken any at this job even when I was sick because I no longer work at a job where you can freely do such things. I'm the only one who works here so if I no show it'll be closed for the day. But my old job.. lol that's another story. I hated it there though and we got 7 paid ones.

I've taken quite a few with a job that I really didn't like (when I wasn't really having to count and keep my money in check). But other than that, I don't take them unless I really have to. Where I work now requires you to get a doctor's note if you have to be out sick.

Not so much now because I like my job. In the past, I always took a lot of sick days on jobs that sucked.

Do you think it looks bad to call in twice for "sick days" within 2 months?

Depends on how long you have worked there... if you've only been there 2 months, that could be a problem. I would try not to do that anymore for quite a while.

Okay, thank you.. I just didn't really feel like going in today. I actually feel fine, but a bit down mentally if that makes sense. Unfortunately you can't say that to your boss.. I also worry about how it'll look when I go back in tomorrow and don't have any "sick" symptoms, but oh well.

I understand. I struggled with depression for years. A lot of people don't considered it as an illness like having a cold or the flu... but it is also an illness.

i don't ever take a sick day unless its legit, i like to get paid.

my time of is just general personal time off (PTO) so it doesn't matter if I'm sick or just taking a day off. So really there is no reason to fake being sick because if I want to take a day off it counts the same no matter what

I usually only take a couple a year if that, and typically do some work at home. But I took most of a week a month or so ago when i had bad food poisoning.

Well, if you are genuinely sick then no one has the right to call it good or bad. But if you are faking twice within 2 months for an fake reason, you better appear convincing.
