Why are guys such babies when they get sick?

Question

My SO is sick right now and you would think the world is about to end. He can't do anything and has called off again. I had the same cold last week and didn't miss any work and still took care of the things in my life. Is it all guys or is it just cause you can? Please explain

When guys are only a little sick you probably don't even notice they are sick because he will act like it is nothing. For a guy to drop his guard and act like a baby he has to be really sick. When we are sick we don't have the strength to act manly and tough anymore. Because this contrasts his tough guy image so much it seems like he is acting like a baby more than a woman would even if the woman acted the exact same way.

The difference is if a woman is sick and the guy doesn't take care of her he is a selfish asshole. If the woman doesn't' take care of the man well enough then he is just a big baby that needs to stop whining. That is how society views men and women differently. Men are not allowed to show weakness in our society without being mocked and made fun of, even while he is sick.

Women can handle being uncomfortable better than men, whereas men can handle being in pain better than women. Things like getting sick of being under a lot of stress isn't comfortable, but it isn't really painful either. Most men I know (including myself) react strongly to discomfort. It's great in sports like wrestling or MMA, because if you can make your opponent uncomfortable enough that he'll give up you win. Many guys can handle pain easy and some even feed off of it. Keep hitting a dude and he won't stop, fighting back, now you put him in an armbar, where his arm isn't supposed to bend like that, and he's begging for mercy. Discomfort and pain sometimes go hand in hand, but they're different.

My boyfriend rarely gets sick so I don't know how he acts. My dad and brother are AWFUL though. I watched my older brother call off work for two days just because he had a sore throat, haha. Meanwhile, I recently got sick with a 101 fever for a week straight and I still dragged myself to work five of those days. :P

I do think it's because we get periods and they don't. We quickly get used to carrying on with our day even though we feel like crap.

Well my boyfriends not a baby when he's sick, he rarely gets sick but when he does its really bad. So usually when someones healthier and when they get sick its worse sometimes. And he doesn't act like a baby when someones sick they need rest, you shouldn't force your bf to work. I love taking care of him even tell him to not work at all that day, I just feel really bad for my bf when he gets sick so I do whatever I can to make him feel better.

I turn into the worlds biggest baby when I am sick. I moan, I am grumpy. I just want to lay in bed. I have always been this way. Drove my ex wife crazy... lol...
Funny enough since I started taking mega doses of vitamins I rarely get sick anymore.

Because we never had a period before so we aren't used to the absolute shitty feeling of our body fucking us over. That's one theory at least.

That or maybe every person is different and the same illness can effect people differently. Recently I got a stomach bug. My mom was sick for like 4 days with it earlier the previous week. When it hit me it was complete hell but only lasted about 18 hours. I was clearly hit with harsher symptoms but it lasted only 1/4th as long.

If you are going to take that attitude with him, I'm sure he'd rather you just stay away until he gets better. Perhaps his behavior is a passive agrees I've way to get you to keep your distance so he can heal without you stressing him out.

Sick time = break time for me. I get sick like once a year or something maybe? (and when I say sick, I mean a fever, not a cold) So when I'm sick, I feel it is my right to not to a damn thing lol.

Unfortunately I live alone, and as much as I tell my cat to go get me food he never does it. Instead he insists that I get up and make him food -_- what a jerk right?

Its been scientifically proven that men when they get sick or a cold is worse than when a woman gets a cold or gets sick but it all depends on that person.

My late mom always said men are big babies when they are sick
she was right cause when my dad was sick he was more miserable
to live with let alone when he wasn't sick. Me on the other hand
i tend to handle things the best way i can and get better doing
whatever i can to feel better sure. Right now in my life i have no
one to listen to how i feel when I'm sick so i have to do whatever i
can to make it and give it the best shot of it..

Um yeah right ok... Not all guys are like this! I pretty much never ever get sick my body is very good at dealing with bugs that are around me. I can't even remember the last time I was sick must be many years ago. However, for other people we are all different and some people get sick more often than others.

I don't think that any one man or woman should be complaining about such a small thing in their relationship and if you are like that leave him/her in your case him , so that he can find someone better than you

My dad and grandfather are examples of men acting like babies. But I also know a woman who lets everyone know she has a headache. She has a cold and she acts like she's dying. It really depends on the individual.
