I have BPD MDD and PTSD I'm suppose to be on antidepressants and antipyschotic which I don't take. Mind you iv been dealing with this since I was 8 anyway, when I did take them everyone said I was 10x better. In a way I did feel better but I didn't feel like myself.
Depression itself causes weight gain/loss, excessive or not enough sleep so on and so fourth. If you've been in therapy for 4 years and still having issues, more then likely your brain isn't producing enough dopamine etc on its own so a stimulant could possibly be your saving grace.

My mother has been on antidepressants for years and it helps her. I've been on mood stabilizers for about 5 years now and they are life savers and have definitely changed my life for the better. If mood stabilizers work then so would antidepressants. The side effects get monitored with your psychiatrist so if they become too much then you try a different brand till you find the right one for you as there are many different brands and each work differently.
That's a last resort kind of deal unless your losing it big time, stay away from it the side affects I have heard are rough. They have breathing CDs for stress that people have talked about that help are breathing tapes I have heard that work well
The side effects can be deadly sometimes. Yet, what they normally do is test you by giving you a placebo, that way they determine if you're just saying bs.

If your doctor thinks it would be a good course of action why not try it? You can always go off them under the doctors supervision.
