How many of you are certified in CPR? How many of you have performed CPR?

I'm certified, including the use of an AED. I'm just wondering who all is. I'm glad I haven't had to use CPR, but I'm willing to use it to save someone's life.

I use it daily at my job. Amazing research has come to the conclusion that early, high quality CPR and early defibrillation can make the difference. Used to be something that was done until someone higher qualified came along with more advanced tactics. Now, we delay some of the advanced tactics to continue the CPR... and it is saving lives.

I take it you are a doctor (or nurse practitioner) or a registered nurse? I certainly would agree with the research. I work in the healthcare industry. I work in IT. I worked as a housekeeper in the hospital, where we were required to know CPR even though there are medical staff all over the place. I'm glad I was required to take it, because you never know when you might need to use it until you actually do.

Paramedic :) I have witnessed first hand this miracle. I pray I never need it outside the job, though...

I meant to include paramedic. That's awesome! I agree with you that I hope I never need to use it, but I will if I have to. I will admit, even at the age of 31, I still feel a little weird if I had to touch a female's breasts. I just have to get out of that mindset and remember that I'm trying to save her life.

You should probably get certified, just so that you have that solid confidence of knowing what you're doing.

I was. I have performed CPR. The first few compression break the persons ribs & maybe sternum. You feel it all the way up your arms. It's a feeling you'll never forget

i was once but it expired and i didn't get it renewed

i didn't need to, i had to get it for a daycare job but they didn't rehire me the following year

I'm not certified. If someone needed it I wouldn't know what the hell to do.

I certainly suggest as many people as possible to get certified. After all, if someone close (wife, girlfriend, kids, parents, siblings, etc) to you has a heart attack, you would increase their chances of coming back than not if you have no clue.
