I love the logic behind people who make fun of overweight people at the gym.
Here is how they behave:
Step 1: makes fun of fat person
Step 2: fat person decides they will start to exercise to try and loose weight (not because of the person calling names, but because they finally have the motivation - which does not come from being mean)
Step 3: Fat person enters the gym
Step 4: same person who made fun originally stares at the person in the gym like she/he is an alien and continues to make jokes and comments
Step 5: fat person doesn't want to go back because he/she feels self conscious going to the gym to fix the problem that people made fun of him/her in the first place.
Like I just simply don't understand the logic behind that...
In short, don't worry about other people because other people are idiots with dumb logic like that. They only care for themselves and have no consideration for others. You should not care what those types of people think about you when you're trying to do a good thing for yourself.10 Reply

+1 yPeople at the gym haven't always been the way they are now! Those muscular guys? They were wimpy and probably didn't have a girl until they started lifting. That girl you see on the elliptical for an hour? She was probably overweight all through high school. Honestly, those people aren't thinking about why overweight people are there. They are probably thrilled to see someone want to change his/her lifestyle.
The way you think is probably what some are thinking about themselves. I don't think people are always bashing on overweight folks. You will be beyond happy with yourself if you go to the gym. You're going for you!! Bring your earphones and some music device. You got this!20 Reply
I think its great! Why would people care? I don't. In guessing the reason why overweight people are going to the gym is to get healthy and fit. Which is fantastic because you have the motivation that a lot of people don't have. Don't let judgement stop you from getting your groove on girl! Everyone is going to be judged no matter what they do or how they act. That's life. And life goes on. You shouldn't let judgement stop you from getting healthy. Or your just gonna keep dealing with the fear of being judged.

+1 yI personally LOVE seeing fat people at the gym.
There are few things as motivating as seeing someone who's decided to make a life change and is going for it.
Any fat person going to a gym can expect to have the VAST majority of the members and people there cheering for them.
Go for it.00 Reply
+1 yGo to the gym. Don't let ignorant people hold you back in life and especially don't allow them to stop you from improving your health and quality of life, not to mention probably prolonging your life.

+1 yThe whole point of going to the gym is to get in shape so it stands to reason that overweight people should be going there to reach fitness goals. If someone doesn't understand that, they're an idiot! If you stay fat, people will judge you even worse.

+1 yTrust me, no one cares or even notices. We are all there focused on reaching our own body goals. The whole point of the gym is to get in shape, everyone knows that, so don't let your weight be a hindrance. If anything, people will respect you for deciding to make a change and get healthy. Good luck!
10 Reply332 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. People on GaG will say they don't care or will tell you to go for it, but the truth is people do judge fat people at the gym and pretty damn harshly too. It's probably more beneficial for you to workout at home to skip all the cruel judgements. You have to remember that the same peeps on GaG are the same peeps who will give a girl a 9.5/10 rating even though her body is really like a 4.5/15 just because she's in her underwear.

+1 yI make most of my living in fitness, and I've been around all kinds and levels of gyms, and I've NEVER seen this actually happen. Like, literally, 0 times. Going all the way back to the days when "health nut" was still an insult.
If you think you see it happening, you are almost certainly just seeing someone acting like a generic asshole -- and, this time, the target of the assholery simply happens to be fat.00 Reply
+1 yWell, people judge you even when you aren't at the gym. So might as well go. And if you are really that self conscious about it, start to walk an hour every day. At least 6 days if you can't manage 7. And eat correctly. You will start to lose lots of weight and you will feel more confident to be able to go to a public gym.
Plus, there are many 24 hour gyms now so you can always find a recluse one and go there. I know of 3 around my house and no one is ever there after 10. Ever.00 ReplyI'll admit here that I fully judge all fat girls at the gym.
If a fat girl goes to the gym to take selfies without doing any real workouts, then I'd be fully judging her for being fake.
If a fat girl goes to the gym to work out and make a healthier change in her life, then I'd judge her to be fully awesome and an inspiration for me to work harder on myself too.10 Reply- 536 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic.
+1 yI go to the gym and there are bigger girls working out there. It's the gym people go there to get in shape you're not expected to be fit, like when you go to get a Brazilian wax you're not expected to be clean shaven.
All the power to everyone who goes to the gym and makes an effort, I've never seen anyone get mocked or looked at because everyone is busy doing their thing.00 Reply
+1 yOnly assholes will judge you. Most people will actually support you cause you're putting effort and work into becoming a better you, and people appreciate that.
So don't let the assholes stop you from being healthier.10 Reply328 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. At least they're doing something about it. The vast majority of people are mature enough to realise that so don't worry about the people who judge; they're too immature and childish to waste your time caring about.

+1 ythere will be judgment for getting fat, and respect for doing something about it. But outside the gym there's no respect for being fat. The gym is arguably the most respectable place you can go! good luck and welcome to a healthier lifestyle if you follow through

All different body types go to the gym, and you going shows you're trying, which is more than many others can say.30 Reply I find fat people in the gym brave. I admire their effort and no one should make fun of them for trying.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7gzmoqmL7g00 ReplySome people will say a lot of mean things, it's inevitable. The gym is meant to be a place where you rehabilitate your body. Sometimes someone is too big, or even too skinny.
Ignore people just imagine the results.00 ReplyNo one at the gym will judge you for being fat. After all, that's what you're there for, right?
I have seen someone make fun of a fat guy once, but he got told off by two other guys immediately.00 Reply
