Who the hell does she think she is, how dare she!. Surely this is inappropriate behaviour or is this an American cultural thing to approach strangers like this. Kinda creepied me out. I can't imagine commenting to another woman that she has a big set of funbags. Yes I wear yoga pants and a sports bra but I also wear a long t-shirt over them so she must have watched me changing in the women's lockeroom.
This is actually a common frustration for a lot of people at the Gym. There are some people who just want to work out and some people are trying to put on a show. That said it's interesting a woman did it because it ties into something that bugs me.
Women are constantly posting tick tocks of them working out in skimpy cloths and men looking at her for ego boosts and to see the comments rip the men apart for being perverts even though she's the one working out basically dressed as a stripper. The fact is the Gym attracts two demographics. 1. people who want to work out and improve themselves. 2. Insecure men and woman that need the validation of strangers. Both are in decent supply at every gym as a rule o thumb.
Also, if you're new to America something to keep in mind is culturally woman can't really be rapists or sexually harass people. There are female Pedo's that get positive feedback for being a predator because they "Made the boy a man" and "He got lucky really early". I personally have been harassed before and nobody cares cause I'm a dude.
I was drinking at the bar with my friends and this woman kept on flirting with me and grabbing my arm without permission. I have very strict boundaries, and she would let go. I yanked my arm out of her hands and went outside for a cig to get away from her and she followed me and grabbed my arm again and wouldn't let go until me and my friends left the bar. I felt sick and disrespected but I'm a dude and she's a girl, so nobody cared.
If the situations were reversed and I kept touching a woman without permission trying to get her to sleep with me and following her around the bar they'd have called the cops and beat me up. Something I've noticed that's a flipside of this is there is a demographic of the lesbian and bi section of the woman population that seem to have this idea that since their a woman they can't sexually harass other woman and so saying things like that in their mind are ok to do.
Culturally things are very different here and there are a lot of double standards for both sexes and all races in this country. You just experienced one of them.22 Reply- 1 y
I can't disagree with anything you said

The way you say that implies that you don't like what I said but think I'm right at the same time but I'm not sure? If that is the case I want to say thank you and good on you for being open to negative facts. A lot of people ignore facts that make them uncomfortable and don't want real feedback just validation and the problem is sometimes you can't give someone the validation they want because it would be factually wrong to tell them otherwise. Accepting facts, you don't like is a really mature thing to do and shows a lot of character and intelligence.

1 yThe fact she watched you in the women’s locker room then said that out of nowhere is beyond me. That is disrespectful, inappropriate, and is a total stranger like WTF?
That would creep me out too, whether a woman or man or whatever said that to me like “you have the biggest bulge, nicest ass I’ve ever seen”. Like what? This is heinous. You deserve to feel comfortable, content, and ‘in the zone’ doing what you are doing not worrying if a creep of any kind will come up to you and say sexually charged sh*t like that. Disrespect and awful, hope you never go through that again and shame on her for doing it.22 Reply- 1 y
She just ASSUMED she watched her. She doesn't know for sure

@KostasKouvalis I’m aware of that from, “ but I also wear a long t-shirt over them so she must have watched me changing in the women's lockeroom. “
I’m going by her description, since she seems it could be a possibility then I stand by her since this is disrespectful act.
1 yIt's just as offensive as a man saying it. Compliments from a stranger should be subtle like you have nice hair or nice shoes or fit.
In gym settings, she could have said you have a nice form or complimented you about your core strength or leg strength.
People are forgetting about boundaries and formal etiquettes to have while exchanging words with a stranger. And the fact that she was probably observing you for a while makes it slightly creepy.

1 yWhat’s your problem?
Lol I don’t see any problem here , she just being nice and complimenting you. I often get compliments from other girls about my small waist or flawless skin and have bo problem with that, just think that they are being nice to girls. Not all people are gays.
Your thoughts depend on what's in your mind, you think something like that is creepy because that’s what in your mind when you see other girls 🤔63 Reply- 1 y
Yeah I'd have taken that as a compliment.. Oofta teenagers nowadays offended by everything including another woman giving a compliment lol

Yeah, I didn’t know that compliment another women is illegal nowdays 🤣

1 yShe was hitting on you. It was definitely hitting on you in a very forward way. However, its not in any way that should offend you. It's not an insult or an affront. I can totally appreciate you being taken aback and surprised. It's just a matter of turning her down. "Sorry I'm straight" or "sorry I'm married" should be the end of it.
I guess it's an American thing. It's not inappropriate that she hit on you. The specific comments about your body... i agree were in poor taste. It's not like people are going to approach you at the gym regularly. But it is totally fine that someone did. People certainly do. It just was a little too sexualized, and about your body. I think that's kinda messed up (in the same way I'd find it messed up if a man said this to you)
🙂

1 yI think commenting on her boobs would be too much, unless they're friends, but another girl complimenting another girl's waist and ass isn't seen as taboo by American standards. It's normal even for straight women to admire and comment on each other's bodies. If you heard some of things my female co-workers said to each other, you'd think they were lesbians.
Americans are very open. If they have something to say they'll say it, especially women, because it's not as frowned upon if a woman says it.
So yeah. It's different with men, but with women, this is completely normal in America.

Update: There is a double standard. Female on female harassment isn't seen as bad as male on female harassment.
525 opinions shared on Girl's Behavior topic. Well, I suppose the logic is that women are innately moral and righteous creatures, unlike men, so her comment would be naturally deemed to have come from a good place.
On top of that, she probably thought it was a compliment because people tend to go to the gym to sculpt their bodies.
It does seem pretty coarse but you are in an American gym, so...
I should imagine if I entered one of those it would be 3 seconds before some loud mouth gobshite was offering me advice. Comes with the territory in those kinds of places.

1 ythere was a time women would have taken that as a compliment from another woman as most times women bitch at each other.
Few decades later the knives are out as how dare she make comment on me!!
What would u have said if it was a male that said it?
33 Reply- 1 y
I don't think there was a time that a woman making leude comments to another woman would be taken as a compliment, in the past it would have resulted with a slap in the teeth.
- 1 y
Because she said you had a small waist and nice bum?
if she said she was going to bend you over and give you one I'd agree but she didn't. Just take it as having a nice bum and small waist because you won't have it forever - 1 y
What if she said I'd a nice set of sweater hams or she loved my beef flaps what then?
honestly it depends on comfort for me that wouldent fly but if your a woman who dosent mind showing off then sure so ima just say this if your uncomftorble tell her how you feel about it if she continues go to another gym second of all she could be lesbian and ima just point out it may just be she is very bold and thinks your into women to and third when you work out all that shows pretty visibly specifically stuff likes squats for the ass and mabie you wore a tight shirt one day ig what im trying to say is this does come off as creepy but dont just assume she meant it that way now thats not to say dont set boundries but rather that you dont know what she wants so rather than complain about it mabie talk with her about it and set everything up so she knows you dont like it that way there can be no mistakes or misunderstandings in the future

1 yI've had similar interactions at my gym over the years. Both out on the floor and in the locker room itself. Unless they ask me what workouts I do, I just say thanks and move on. Don't get me wrong, some of them do make me feel uncomfortable, but at the same time I'm not gonna go out of my way to make a fuss about it and ruin my own day with it. Now, if someone touches me, theeeeen it's a whole other deal 👊😤

20 Reply@gwendoline Gwen, are you bragging or complaining? From what you say, you must have the nicest ass and most trim waist in the gym...(You just made my shorts slightly tight !) No sexual harassment intended LOLOL 😁😁
You should take that as "praise from Caesar" If a girl made that comment to you, the guys must be drooling over your nice ass and waist!
Go with it... AND DON'T CALL ME SHIRLEY!!! lolol

1 yI routinely get compliments from women and I usually say thanks. Unless I’m dating him, bois usually don’t. Sometimes those compliments from women keep me going when a shitty person whose eyes were almost brown started bragging about how “light” they were. Some idiots literally make their eye colour their whole personality. Even if the rest of their appearance and personality are cooked. You should be glad because I have also had nasty women who hated me for looking better than them.
20 ReplyI think it is a woman thing rather than American. Women feel that complimenting other women about their appearance is a right that they are open to abuse.
