I am so down and beaten it hurts physically. Is this common?

You might need to try some light stretching and strength training. don't be afraid to lift "heavy things" unless you eat a huge surplus you aren't going to look manly

depression will physically drain you as well, which may be linked to physical pain, though I'm not entirely sure.
