Also, I know someone who tried what you are describing and it made more harm for her than good, so I'm not advicing it to anyone...

In the long run waist shapers will worsen your posture because it weakens your core muscles. Do core and back exercises if you want to increase posture.

I have back problems like a motherfucker but I can't afford titter hang ups. It hangs you up side down and is suppose to stretch your back
Doing deadlifts and kettlebell swings with proper form did wonders for my posture.
