I worked for a couple of pizza places, starting with Domino's almost 30 years ago. I learned to use paper towels to soak up the excess grease on my pizzas back then, and when I moved to another pizza place (a local mom & pop place), I "institutionalized" the draining of pizzas there - every pizza got drained before it was cut.
Even today, when I order a pizza for takeout, I ask for it not to be cut. That way, I can drain it before I cut it. That keeps the grease from running into the cuts and soaking into the crust and making it soggy. I have a commercial pizza cutter at home ($7 from a restaurant supply store), so it's easy.
Note: even worse than the grease from the meat is the "stew" from the veggies. If you have a veggie-heavy pizza (combination or vegetarian), you can get a full cup or more of liquid that cooks out of the veggies and sits on the cheese layer waiting for someone to cut the pizza and ruin the crust. We would drain those twice - once right out of the oven and again about a minute later. That way, the crust wasn't a soggy mess.
Oh, I'm a HUGE meat guy. I don't do veggies on my pizza. But I'll keep that in mind, asking Fr the pizza uncut.
My favorite pizzas use a white sauce which is a garlic butter/oil base instead of red tomato base. As a result the pizzas tend to naturally be greasy since the sauce itself is oil. Trying to get the grease off would basically be futile and if you could all you'd end up doing is getting rid of the sauce.
Is that white sauce good?
Extremely! Try getting it with fresh tomatoes and whatever other toppings you want in addition. Amazing
ALWAYS, I just can't eat a greasy pizza, ew, just ew. Pizza is meant to be dry and thin. Fat greasy pizzas, nope thanks.
yeah, people tease me for this lol
I know, right?
I usually make my own pizza, so no. I just avoid putting greasy stuff on it.
I make good pizza too. I haven't done it for a long time though.
Neither have I. The prep is a bit time consuming.
Oh yeah. I remember that much. If you want it done right, you have to start five or six hours before you throw it in the oven.

Ya I do. Doesn't affect the pizza orgasm lol or taste, and it's actually a significant deduction in sat. Fat consumed I think.
FYI guys, it's the enriched flour white crust that's the real culprit. Make whole wheat pizza👍✌ makes for fun dates too
Hmmm. I make really great pizza from scratch. I'll try that next time I do.
If there are sizeable orange puddles on top of my pizza... then I will blot my pizza.
But such circumstances rarely happened to me.
I don't know. Maybe I'm just paranoid.
I don't. haha
But I also prefer deep dish pizza, and its not possible to wipe off cheese grease on that.
As in Chicago-style pizza?
Woo! Chicago deep dish! Though I am a huge fan of Phil's Pizza D'oro on Milwaukee Avenue and I've never had their deep dish. I've had Giordano's though. Delicious.
You should definitely try Phil's. It's amazing. I can't wait until later in the summer when I visit Chicago and have it with my cousins.
I'm don't know where you get your pizza but mine is never greasy like that.
Casey's is usually pretty greasy. It's been a while since I had Pizza Hut, so I can't really remember (absolutely CRAVING a stuffed crust sausage pizza from them right now!).
Yep, I take a napkin or two and wipe the grease off the top of the cheese. I don't like my pizza too greasy.
Do people tease you for it?
At first yeah but not anymore. My friends/family are used to it already.
With some pizza. Some of them aren't as greasy. I usually just press a paper towel on it. I hate super greasy pizza.
No... I just won't eat it. The pizza I typically buy isn't greasy.
I just remove most of the cheese or order my pizza without cheese so I don't have to deal with that.
Though I prefer less greasy pizza, I don't waste any time removing grease from my slices.
Yeah, I always do. Greasy food it just gross to me.
Sometimes I do.
I usually pat it with a napkin
What the fuck? Why would you do that? :(
Sometimes I do sometimes I don't.
i do it sometimes
