I have a appointment for my depression, what should I expect?

I am finally getting help for my long time depression, and it will be the first time that I've talked about it to someone other than my close friends, what should i expect out of this doctors visit?

First visit is just getting background information. That way they can make a diagnosis and figure out a treatment plan that might work for you. It takes time and there are multiple different methods so they'll be asking a lot of questions to make sure they get the whole picture. Then they'll discuss some options with you and what they think is the best plan of attack moving forward.
I also suffer from depression, have sought treatment a few times and I worked at a counseling center so if you have any questions or just want to talk just message me 😄

I have been through counseling many different times in my life. Like other people have said the counselor is going to want to know about you, your past, whats going on now, pretty easy stuff. Different counselors do have different approaches but I got a lot more used to being open about more depression and honestly the 5 times I've tried to kill myself and the 1 time I was hospitalized for 4 days and then 3 days at a behavior rehab place.
