is there something related with childhood?
I think maybe my family used to threat me with Needles as kid. I got so much Needles before but I'm still weak 😠The problem we always will need it oneday
what helped me overcome it was conditioning myself to watch youtube videos on it and learning active things I could do to my body when feeling faint. for a month straight I watched like 30 minutes a day of blood being drawn, surgeries, etc. I kept actively reminding myself that the injecting, cutting, piercing is to HELP the person. It is not harming the person. If you feel dizzy, remind yourself the feeling WILL pass if you can fight through it and you can clench your wrists and calves to help pool blood to go to your brain. It takes desensitization and pep talking but you can get over it. My fear was very very bad. I fainted many times because of it. Now it's gone. Slight uncomfortable during some surgeries but I can do it and help now. Believe in yourself. If I can get past it, so can you. Some people just have a bad experience conditioned into them and others are prone due to family history of anxiety. You can overcome it though.
When I was a kid, @Saudigirl, I dreaded every Shot in the arm and would clench, look away as I was Forced to get this in order to Help me.
Now that I am older, I still 'Look away,' and am just instructed to Relax and Not tighten my arm in alarm. It's not so bad now.
In your own case, for it seems a nightmare that may Always follow you, if Needed to go and get this 'Shot in the arm,' think of More pleasant things in your life that doesn't Include Strife and the next thing you Know... It's like a shot in the dark that goes real fast and you can then just pick up and leave afterwards.
However, if you are Living with this pain daily and cannot cope with this, please see a Professional to Best guide you. There are many thing sin one's life that even a little pill cannot do or a 'Shot in the arm' can help.
Good luck. xx

By realizing that it's just a short piece of metal and at most your gonna feel a prick or a pinch, the only time you'd actually have to be afraid of a need is when they take the really long one and jab it into your spine, but the chances of you ever needing that done or having it done are almost nonexistent.
Otherwise just suck it up half the time people are so focused on not being afraid of the damn thing that they don't even realize it's already over.

I used to be terrified of needles too as a kid. It would be the biggest battle to get immunizations. Eventually, I would stop looking at it. Its such a visual thing. Like I wouldn't even care at that time when I had a cavity I would get a shot in my mouth and wouldn't care. Before I was 17, I wouldn't look at the shot being injected and it helped so much.
But when I was 17, I had my first experience as a patient in the hospital. My elbow had to be reconstructed and I just had needles after needles of iv and morphine injected into me. I saw my first needle punctured into my body and it wasn't bad at all. Now I always look and feel so stupid for being so scared
I dunno... my mum has always been tough and I think I just followed in her footsteps.
like she used to tell me: you re not the first one nor the last one doing this so get over it. and I well, get over it hahaha
I used to be afraid of needles but last month I had 3 blood tests done and had an IV in me twice, it's really not that bad if you just breathe and don't think much about it, just a little pinch.
Imagine in your mind, with your eyes closed get a shot with a needle, see it going in and you relaxed and not afraid. Do this over and over until you feel more confident.
You just have to suck it up. The pain from a needle really isn't that bad. The last time I had an IV it took them 12 tries and I didn't even flinch once
Personally i just look away and i think of something else.
Im fine with shots but I hate IVs and having blood drawn 😣
My advice would be to just look away when you get a shot. I'v never been afraid of needles.
To overcome fear of needles. You must become a needle.
One way to overcome fear is to get exposed to it..
Do drugs.
I hate needles too. :(
