i voted B. i dont agree with the idea of euthanasia in that the idea of taking someone's life kinda irks me, but i can still understand that alleviating their suffering is for their own good, so i thought id say that first.

i do NOT agree with someone going up to a hospital and saying 'i have the right to die if i want'. fcxk that. you were given life as a GIFT. someone's parents, siblings, cousins, friends, etc, would give anything to bring their loved one back, and this person has the audacity to think of their life as 'difficult'. please. we must all remind ourselves that we aren't the centre of the damn universe. -.-

i also don't agree with it being an unconditional thing, on any level. too much freedom is never a good idea.

... and 2 months ago she was diagnosed with terminal cancer and when she called me asking to come and visit her I told her to fuck off and rot. Now she gets to die a slow and painful death by herself.

What that shows is that my mom had the mindset that you have where she thought I might be suicidal and she committed me to a mental hospital. She's still alive but has only about 4 months to live but because she committed me against my will under a false pretense she pays the price.

Voted option E. There are diseases that are not curable, and may not be deemed "terminal" at the time but the patient suffers. At a certain point, when someone is suffering, it becomes an act of compassion to not see them suffer any more. You are relieving them from an incurable life of hell. In my view, it's immoral to force them to live if they don't want to.

After watching how my dad suffered through his illness, I wish there could've been a way to keep him from being in so much pain. nothing they did helped at all, but the hope was still there so they kept trying and each time they just debilitated him that much more. It was heartbreaking and if he had wanted to die in a way that was quick and painless I would have given him that in a second.

But like I said, the hope was still there. Every round of chemo was a chance to be cancer free and if it had just fucking worked it would've been worth all the pain and sickness.

I don't know what's "morally right" but sooner or later everyone dies so it's not like euthanasia is copping out on a curable disease, death will get us all and it doesn't care if you make it wait as long as possible because in the end it always wins.

I don't agree with euthanasia because;
1) people may feel pressure to end their life as they may feel like a burden on loved ones and society.
2) people may just need better palliative care
3) people who are terminally ill can still experience clinical depression but it's not picked up on cos it's assumed to be a normal reaction

Not everyone who is terminally ill will become clinically depressed many cling to hope and life. Depression will impair your ability to consent to euthanasia. Therefore it would have to be ruled out as a reason for requesting euthanasia.

There should be a special euthanasia hospital where only people who wish to die (and had a contract signed) would be allowed into. Anyone can back out even if they're just about to get it done. It shouldn't be done in any regular hospital, because then it could be corrupted and used to get rid of anyone. And the person dying has to read, get a lawyer, and sign a contract to get it done and to prove they consented to it.

I understand that people with terminal disease or people with awful disease want to it that way. there was such case in my country with a woman named Chantal Sébire. In such case, I get it...
Though, I'm not for having a country allowing or even helping people to commit suicide... it just doesn't feel right. And if it happens, it should only happens in rare situations.

I'm not "whining" I'm speaking out against this system. You don't send people to prison for what people think or what they might do. Yet we send them to psych wards for what they think or what they might do. Do you see the double standards?

Even if I wasn't a minor, all it would take is a note from my therapist/psychiatrist to commit me and I couldn't get out unless they said I could be let out when my insurance runs out. And we send people to prison for what they do, not because they might do something. Sending people to psych wards is in essence thought crime.

Not really. I'm sure studies could be done to decide what mental capacity a person has to have to be best equipped to make this decision and have protocols put in place to reflect this.

Someone can have a bad night and wanna die and not feel the same way the next morning. I'm not a healthcare professional so I couldn't tell you the necessary parameters to evaluate a persons mental state, but I think the suicidal feelings should have to persist over a certain amount of time

Let me tell you: that is patently false. In fact they do the opposite. They try to keep people OUT of mental hospitals.. people who SHOULD be there. There are very few extended stay mental healthcare facilities left in the US. Most are just not equipped to handle more than a maximum stat of 2 weeks.

This was something we specifically had to deal with with my (bipolar) mother who was never in their carw long enough to get a proper evaluation.

Well that statement is patently false. I was committed against my will when I was 16 because my parents thought I was suicidal but after my psych evaluation it was deemed that I was at no risk of suicide in the first place.
