How in the Hell do you get rid of acne?

I've had acne since about 14. Severe acne. It occasionally would lessen but never fully went away.

I've tried everything from Proactiv, Murad, Neutrogena, Clean and Clear, Noxema, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, peels. Scrubs. Even went to doctor and had pills for internal and creams.
Nothing worked long term as my skin seemed to "adapt" or something and then the treatments would lose effectiveness pretty quickly or some just didn't work at all.

Now my skin is FINALLY clearing up. What did I use? I made this spot treatment from aloe vera gel, dashes of tea tree, rosemary and lavender essential oils. I have used it for a few weeks now and I have no new pimples and my skin is clearing up. I like it so far.

Depends on your skin problem really. Most of the time, just cleaning with a mild soap then using a zinc oxide cream, things like desitin/sudocrem work well, they're nappy rash creams mainly but used for other things and contain zinc oxide, they're really good for acne and lots of other skin issues like rashes or whatever. You should only use that stuff on clean skin though because it's a barrier cream... it locks dirt out but can also lock dirt in if used on dirty or oily skin. It's thick stuff, so use it at night before you sleep.

There is a drug called roaccatane, you can only have it in prescription.

It will end all acne but has its side effects, if you are a heavy alcohol user or have a bad liver it can cause liver damage so you need regular blood tests while using it. I know it works because I tried everything it didn't work and this did. This is the only drug that works. Trust me.

I got a break out on my chest a few years ago. I think i put a little cream on it for a week or 2 that got it to go away.

It depends. Sometimes finding the right cleanser does the trick. Acne might be hormonal so... that requires a doctor's visit to figure out a treatment plan. Drinking a lot of water with lemon has been known to help too. Switching pillowcases and sheets frequently can also help.

well all these people are so "lucky" - i still have acne and im 26 -_- I thought by now theyd be gone. fucking shit doesn't want to disappear off of my face. I've heard Accutane is really good, I wasn't allowed to try it on account of my mother being over protective of all the warning signs grr.

About a week ago I went to the doctors & got prescribed minocycline (oral pill) & adapalene (aka differin) gel. My face is already clearing up!

My mother who is 42 had cystic acne & she is on it too & her skin has never looked better.

I had to see a dermatologist.
I am on oral medication and skin creams. My skin looks great though.

Depend which kind of skin you have. I know that with the kind of skin I have I will have acne until 30 if not more

I suggest Epiduo. Ask your doctor about it. Works like a charm for me.

If you can't get your hands on that then I'd go with Clean & Clear which is OTC.
