Do semi squat thing.. I don't know what it's called but you hold on to a stable support (say a standing rod) at about stomach height. Keep your legs parallel, you squat then get up halfway (till your face is inline with your hands) and squat again.
Repeat this. Try 50 x3.
No pressure on the knees , the thighs and glutes take everything.

Hm, i don't think i can give much advice since you can't exactly choose where the fat will settle on your body. I got a big ass and small boobs, wish i could change where my fat settles :s

Butt implants like those celebs is the only other way that I'm aware of unless you gain overall body fat. 40 sounds big already though.
The only way is really squats 😶
Eat a lot of double stacked cheeseburgers
