Post tooth extraction?

I had a tooth pulled the other day and haven't really felt well since and the roof of my mouth and my gums hurt and the pain medicine isn't helping that. I don't see any harm in using a liquid numbing on my gums and roof of my mouth as there's a flap covering the extraction site and I'm not gonna put it right in the whole just up on the gums and roof of my mouth to help it feel better but I know it's gonna drip down around the whole. I've been keeping it super clean and have no bleeding or anything so figured it would be ok. Just wondering if anyone was ever told not to use something like orajel or I got a bottle of liquid numbing stuff that I use.

CAn you take an over the counter pain medicine? That may help. But if it's that bad, I would be contacting your dentist to see what they can prescribe for you.

Have you been eating food you shouldn't have? Or anything that may irritate your gums?

An ice pack on your jaw or cheek near where the toot was extracted can help as well!

I would call and see what they can do.

I've been quite nauseous so I've not really been eating a lot and I've been being super careful with everything. I passed out coming into work Wednesday and ended up in er and same thing yesterday only I refused to go to er because it was the same thing as the day before. I called the dentist and they said it wasn't related and I wasn't passing out and dizzy and nauseous till the tooth was pulled so I'm not really too happy with them. My cheek up to my eye feels bruised and the roof of my mouth feels bruised

Oh no! Well sounds like you need to just take it easy! Perhaps you need to give yourself a break. I kind of over did it when I had my wisdom teeth removed. At the time I had a 2 hour commute plus a stressful job. I thought having the weekend off would be enough, but I had an allergic reaction to the medicine they gave me, plus I ended up getting an infection. I think sometimes we need to just listen to our bodies and try to let them heal. Hopefully you have the type of job that allows you some sick time to rest. Sounds like you really need it!

When I got my tooth extracted, I was prescribed Tylenol 3, but I didn't really need it. My dentist never mentioned anything about not using any liquid numbing medicine though. Personally, I don't see an issue with it, but why not ask your dentist?

I was prescribed Tylenol 3 and said to take Motrin and I'm still having a lot of pain. I'm sorta upset with the dentist because he said I'd be fine to go to work the next day and I got here and passed out and ended up in the er and yesterday I made it 2 hours and was down again and they wanted me to go to er but I refused because I was just there so I called the dentist and told them I'm dizzy, seeing spots, passing out, nauseous, having a lot of pain and even last night the whole right side of my face hurt and my eyes were blurry and I didn't have these issues till the tooth was pulled and they said it wasn't related

Wow, I'm sorry that you're going through all of this. Tylenol 3 is a strong pain killer and for it not to work means that there's something wrong. What you're going through is an extreme case. And yes, it sounds like your dentist did something wrong. I hope you feel better!
