My mom was never a health freak and she is 55, but she looks 42-44. I as well, I'm 25 and I usually pass as 18-20.
So why people claim this bullshit?
Because science and statistics prove it's validity.
Smoking DOES age your skin and teeth. And this is only outward visible damage as your lungs, heart and other organs suffer.
You two are exceptions to the rule, more people die younger, age faster, etc with each bad habit than not. So be grateful but not arrogant of your good genes or good luck.
Have you ever seen a fucking meth head? Tell me again that their unhealthy lifestyle didn't affect their looks. Obviously age played a role, but you unhealthy habits age you so much faster.

Is this a guy or a girl? Hard to tell.
Genes hun
Because it's usually true.
Your mum probably had it ingrained into her to do naturally healthy things.
Walk instead of drive to places. Healthier.
Eat moderate meals, don't overeat or eat late at night. Healthier.
Get enough sleep. Healthier.
Not work oneself into an early grave, healthier.
Staying out of the sun, well, you know what's coming.
You can do all those things unconsciously.
Ageing is mostly about burning yourself out, in my view.
An example or two doesn't prove anything.
There for sure is a correlation between being healthy and looking young.

There's this thing fam, its called genetics.
A healthy life style no doubt contributes to how you age. Anyhow, certain genetics may slow down or speed up your aging process. For example, some men start balding at 20 while others bald at 60. Why you ask? Because of genetics. Its really ALL just genetics. But amidst that, a person can sort of be in control of it. And once again HOW YOU ASK? Well I mean its pretty its pretty obvious.. one can do various methods. Refraining from alcohol, drinking water daily, a healthy diet, exercise and yoga, and facial care routines can keep a person looking younger despite their genetics.
When you look at the morbidly obese once they have had surgery or changed their lifestyle and they are healthier than ever... Compare before and after. Even if it takes them years to lose the weight, they love ok younger in slumped bodies with healthier skin hair and nails.. Just an example of where this stereotype comes from
Because they usually do tend to look older than people who are health-conscious. Just because your family has good genetics, doesn't take away from that.
Cuz they don't know what they are talking about.
Smoking and drinking heavily would make you look old. But being overweight and having an unhealthy diet makes your face round and evens out all the wrinkles so you'd actually look younger.
In general yeah, but it also has to do with genes. I don't really exercise anymore and still look younger than my age. My dad is in his 60's and looks really young.
Because they do. Pumping alcohol down your throat, and eating junk food isn't going to hold up to well when your metabolism starts slowing down.
