Is excessive body fat/heavy weight and indication that someone lives a sloppy, careless, undisciplined lifestyle?

I've been slacking going to the gym for the past year and I've noticed that I've put on a bit of weight. Honestly, it's because I've been living a sloppy, careless, undisciplined lifestyle where I eat whatever I want, eat out all the time, have several different types of fast food in a week, and totally ignored my calories, not giving one single damn about nutritional value. I'll go to the gym, sit in the hot tub, take a shower, and leave. It's utterly ridiculous.

Not sure if I'm being insensitive but I know this is what's resulted in my weight gain and it's a major reality check for me like..."Wow, I'm neglecting my health and being such a lazy, careless sloth." So I'm curious what you think! Is excessive body fat/heavy weight and indication that someone lives a sloppy, careless, undisciplined lifestyle?

I'm also curious if anyone can post any links or informational videos about what actually happens inside of the body during long times of inactivity and maybe even some tips or tools on how to get back into a fitness routine after not using one for so long. Just any bit of helpful, useful info you can provide!
