Tampon uses should I be scared?

I'm fifteen and I've had my period for four years now. I bought a regular absorbency tampon , and I wanna use them. I'm scared though will I get tss?

Use pads instead of tampons. Tampons hold certain risks. Mother of a good friend of mine is a highly regarded gynecologist. Tampons have two issues:

1. All brands are perfumed. The problem is that your internal vaginal walls soak up everything a lot easier. For example - in the UK there was a trend where girls soaked tampons in alcohol and inserted them to get drunk faster. Needless to say you don't want parfum in your bloodflow since it is toxic to you.

2. It clogs up your discharge.

So tampons should only be used temporary for activities such as sports or swimming, but not be your major choice of holding up your period-discharge.

There is not perfume in every brand. At least, not in the netherlands.

I rather do something disgusting than something unhealthy though. And this is not knowledge from me but from said friends mother. I wouldn't know that otherwise. Also there are other options like that cup thing or whatever.

No option is more leakage-safe than the tampon. (Considering you're using it correctly and in the right size)

I don't think tou understand. Imagine wearing a diaper on a hot day, and not being able to control when you pee. When you stand up, you feel a hot liquid dripping. Then when you sit down again it sticks to your bottom. The smell lingers, so if your period's heavy you'll actually smell the blood.

Believe me, you'd take a one in a million risk over pads everyday.

And I prefer wearing a diaper than going for healthrisks. Anyway, it is the Askers choice to make - not mine, not yours. Thus she better knows about the risks beforehand to make a proper choice. So what exactly is your point?

It might block some discharge, but it doesn't cause an actual issue because a part of the discharge is soaked up. I'm not even sure big brands have perfume in them.

No love. TSS is incredibly rare, and if you follow the directions (i. e. don't wear it for more than 8 hours) you have an incredibly low chance of getting TSS. Even if you leave it in longer than 8 hours (a little over, mind you, not like 24 hours) you still have a very low risk of getting TSS

TSS is a disease that only very few women get. If you jist switch it out regularly, you'll be fine.

If your period is light-medium I suggest using the mini's first though.

by the way, TSS will only happen after leaving it in very long, and I generally get them out every four hours, and I have a light period. The fear of bleeding through your pants at school will make you swap them more.
