Grandma got diagnosed with cancer?

My grandma is my absolute best friend. She's an amazing woman who has seen so much. She dealt with an abusive husband, had to raise 8 kids practically on her own and then had to bury 4 of them (one passed just this past summer). She's always been pretty healthy and has taken good care of herself. Today my mother told me that at my grandmas most recent doctors visit, her doctor found cancerous cells. She is due for surgery in December and then it will be determined if she needs chemo or radiation therapy. My friends say that if she's going into surgery that that means the cancer is operable which is a good sign, but I'm not optimistic. I can't imagine losing my grandma and I'm terrified that she may lose her life to this disease. How can I cope with this? Any other words of comfort...

As someone studying nutrition science in Uni, I really have to stress how important it is for her to get off all dairy products and processed food. It will help her body fight off the cancer cells, even if it's just a little bit. Get her a good juicer and blender and make sure she drinks as many fruits and vegetables as she can get in. She needs to be giving her body the best possible fuel to fight, she needs nutrients, an alkaline diet, and she needs her blood to be as oxygenated as possible, but she also needs to avoid cholesterol, saturated fat, IGF-1, heterocyclic amines, exogenous hormones, casein, and n-nitroso compounds. Essentially, if it came from another animal or if it came from a package, it won't do her any good.
As someone who lost multiple family members to cancer... It's incredibly hard, but you have to stay strong. Be strong for her, be as positive as you can, keep her smiling. If there's something I know about sick people, it's that they hate other people treating them like they're sick. Just love wholeheartedly, be there for her in any way you can and don't waste time. Time is precious when you have a sick loved one.

Aww I'm sorry to hear that, my French grandpa who was my favorite person ever, died from a tumor in his head when I was 9 and it was just so surreal for me, the worst moment in my life :/ BUT I agree with your friends, if it's operable that's a good thing, although surgeries in general are more risky for older people, if you're optimistic and show it to your grandma she might get some strength through that and it'll help her in her fight! I hope she'll get better soon!

My Grandma was diagnosed April -May 1994 with Dementia the later stages of Alzheimer's
she lived 4 years later but the doctors were for sure she had the disease at least 3 years or more. But one thing cancer this day and age can be treated and people live longer there is more treatment out there than there was years ago.

I had to watch my grandma slowly lose her mind and die over 5 years from alstimers and I'm her to tell you slowly will get better when she does pass but I hope she comes out fine what kind of cancer is it

chemo will kill her faster
