Ways to get drunk while dieting?

Have a birthday coming up and have stuck out on this diet for a month and a half. Asked my PT what I should have and he said to drink vodka and soda water with lemon. Im perfectly fine with doing shots, dont need soda but Im not sure if the alcohol will slow down the break down of food or what?
It only takes me 4-6 shots of tequila to get drunk so should I be going for something with a high alcohol percentage or something straight with no flavouring or sweetners?
