What should I do with my broken nail that is cracked in my nail bed?

Wonder if anyone who have broken a nail and its cracked center of the nail bed. What did you do to get rid of it? Did you let your nail grow back out or tried to cut it? I tried cutting it but it hurts like hell since its attached to the skin. What should I do?

If it's broken either on or below the nail bed then don't try to remove it. It will be too painful and it could get infected. If the nail is cracked then it would be better to either apply some nail glue to strengthen it or to cover the nail with a stick plaster of bandage to support it until the crack grows above the nail bed. If you can cut of any excess nail above the nail bed (if you have long nails) to relieve any pressure then do it but not if it's too painful. Give the crack protection and allow it to grow out.

Trim it down as far as you can and then put nail glue or super glue on it until it grows about enough to cut off the crack
