Gaining muscle mass is a lot of work, although if your in your mid 20's it is probably the best age you could be to gain muscle. My suggestion is if it bothers her that much than she sounds pretty superficial.

Well it all depends on her vision of the ideal muscular guy. If you don't comply to that image, then you are not muscular in her eyes. But that has nothing to do with her sympathy for you.
